2006 Ducati Sporting Club Desmo Due Championship

The penultimate round of the DSC Desmo Due championship, held at Snetterton on Sunday 3rd September, saw outright championship wins in both class A (620cc) and Class B (583cc) All races were mixed grids of both Class A and B entrants, grid positions determined by qualifying times on each day

Two non championship races were held on Saturday; in race 1 Ian Leah won Class A followed closely by Kyle Hinton and Dominic Cann, Class B was won by Kieran Morris, second and third places going to Mark Foskett and Murray Bown respectively. The second race saw the Class A top 3 reversed, Somerset based Cann taking his first of 3 wins over the weekend while class B was won again by Morris with Foskett second and Phillip Clarke third.

On Sunday in Class A Cann had two very convincing victories having set up his bike perfectly during the Saturday races and practice periods, in race one he lined up second on the grid to Leah, pole setter on both days, the two contesting the first few laps before Cann broke away to increase his lead in the 10 lap race to finish an impressive 7 seconds ahead of Leah with Hinton a further 1.7 seconds behind Leah. Cann recorded the fastest lap at 1.23.00 on his final lap at a speed of 84.67mph.

The class B race was won by Phillip Huntley who like Cann in Class A entered the Snetterton round as class leader, followed By Andy Sheppard in second and Andrew Roberts in third place, Dominic Clegg narrowly missing his first top three result in the 2006 series

Race 2 saw a repeat of the victory with Cann leading from the start and never headed during the race, unfortunately ended prematurely on lap 8 of the 10 lapper, due to a faller on the exit of Coram bringing out the red flags. Hinton took second place followed by Leah, Mark Hill in his first 2006 Desmo Due race on his return to the series taking two very respectable fourth place finishes in class A

In Class B Sheppard battled through to his first 2006 win with 13 seconds to spare over second placed Andrew Griffith, Huntley crossing the line less than half a second later to take third place and the 2006 Class B championship.

The final round at Cadwell on the 8th October will see the battles for second and third places in both classes resolved.
