Not so far as the RC are concerned. You are not allowed to remove bits. I even applied in writing last year and was told it was not within the rules. I'm not fussed and as I said not really performance enhancing, but if it sarts to get ugly next year who knows what may hppen. Maybe this type of modification can be made ok/or clear what is allowable for next year.

wot FWooking MOD................................

the Subframe has not been altered in anyway...........!!!

phillc 20-Oct-2006 14:35

1.6.1 Frame Body and Rear sub frame

The main frame must remain as originally produced by Ducati.

The main frame may only be altered by the addition of gussets or tubes. No gussets or tubes may be removed except to allow the fitting of short inlet manifolds.

All motorcycles must display a vehicle identification number on the mainframe body (chassis number).

Rear sub frame may be changed or altered, but the material must remain as standard. This to include the removal of the rear tubes from the Monster frame, behind the original seat.

The paint scheme is not restricted.

Engine mounting brackets or plates must remain as originally produced.

Additional seat brackets may be added and original brackets may be removed. Bolt-on accessories to the rear sub-frame may be removed.

Additional crash protectors may be added; positioning to be authorised by Race Technical Inspection.

---

I would say that you can alter the sub-frame and remove seat brackets, based on the rule above. That's from the 2007 draft published by the RC. I don't have the 2006 ones handy, but if I recall correctly, this section has not changed.

The bike has no subframe mods..

Grib 20-Oct-2006 14:39

PhillC, yep, that's as I remember it as we triple checked before modifying the sub frame on my bike. As far as I can see, unless it specifically says 'you cannot remove parts of the subframe', like the statement for the the main frame, then that's a goer too :)

tetol 20-Oct-2006 14:44

i'm sure the rules can be changed to suit.

"Additional seat brackets may be added and original brackets may be removed. Bolt-on accessories to the rear sub-frame may be removed."

As far as i can see that clears the issue of removing the pillion bracket mounts.
