Shoieeeeeeeeeeeeee :) x 3 |
Hemet Choice I've been using a Shoei X Spirit for some time now. Great lid which suits my head shape. |
Impossible to say what's a good lid for you Mav, the one that fits you best is probably the best. I've found that there ain't no such thing as the 'perfect' lid (although I've only had 3 lids since I started riding again). Shark RSF - Good fit but heavy and I didn't like the seat belt type strap fastening Shoei XR1000 - Good fit, lightweight, great ventilation, D-ring strap, pinlock visor, fantastic visor mechanism...but the chinguard pushed back in my face above 100 mph probably needed the bigger cheekpads Roof R020 - Absolutely perfect fit for my head, amazingly comfy, quietest lid I've ever worn, a little heavier than the Shoei but not by much, ventilation not all that, pretty crude visor mechanism, still pushes back at speed but not as bad as the Shoei. If I had my perfect lid it would be the Shoei with the Roof fit, comfort and quitness, plus the Shark's refusal to push back into my chops. |
one that fits the best (snug) no pressure points but feel all round you is the best one to go for. I've got AGV Gp-Pro and like Albie, i love mine, it's been the best helmet i've had (replaces the XR-2 model that someone mentioned) It's quiet and comfy and ever so light, carbon and kevlar shell, lightweight and strong. Might go for AGV Ti-Tech next year and the Shoei XR1000's are very good aswell. |
Four Simpson's RX8, RX8 speedway, Outlaw and a 1980's origional RX1 Star Wars . All in black with iridium visors. Awesome looking helmets, good fit if you ignore the sizes and just keep trying them until you find one that feels OK. Down side is how noisey they are, OK for short blasts and town, but, need ear plugs for long rides and motorway use. Arai Quantum F, white with iridium visor, for track days when they get awkward about the Simpson not having a gold ACU sticker. |
I wanted a AGV, went to Hein Gerricke and ended up finding my head says Aria fit better, so bought a Corsair. Needed a helmet for this off road stuff, so did not even bother trying other makes, just ordered an Aria Tour Cross in the same size and it fitted perfect. My son went in and AGV fitted him, so no genetic material of me in there then!  You know what the say, 50p helmet for a 10 bob head! :) So how much do you love yourself Mav? |
Dilema Quote:
Ain't the cost jeff, It's just that the industry keeps coming out with Shite and expects us to buy it ! Arai.. last one Edwards Rep RX cost me £550 Before that I had a Everoak made to measure £450 and befor that a Bell, I'ts pi$$ing me off as I have looked a loads this week and they all feel a bit Chep. The best quality I found was the latest Schuberth ! Is It me ? or is getting Older making me think more about VFM???/ ps Jeff , I love myself nearly as much as you love yourself !!!! LoL Mav |
Didn't MCN run a lid test a few weeks ago, Arai top but AGV failed after the first or second test if I recall, wonder if I've still got the comic to check? |

Obviously, working as the Ferrari car park attendant you must be absolutely minted geezer! My mate has 2 Schuberth and he loves them, loads of good features and VFM. Was thinking about getting one as I suffer loads of wind noise (not curry related either!) on long Motorway trips, just recently bought some moulded plugs that help, will see on next long trip if I still need one and if so will look at a Schuberth just for that job. I have to love myself Mav, no one else does!  Even Roy is leaving the country, might have to change my board name to nobbynomates! |
