I think I read something along similar lines, which also mentioned something about a dye-pentrating test....Dymag are probably the people to ask!

Been running Magnesium Marchesini's since '98 on 748/916SPS..as long as there's no damage to paint and evidence of corrosion beneath paint, I do not believe that there is a need to dye pen/x-ray annually.
