The 2nd pic looks as if it has 8 friction plates.
i know Phil Bevan on the JHP sponsored (among others) 996RS runs 4 spring plates in opposing pairs one pair near the back of the clutch and the other closer to the front, I only run the two in my 748R clutch.
from the 2nd pic it looks as if the clutch starts with 2 drive plates followed by a friction plate, then a spring plate then alternating between 6 friction plates and 5 drive plates, then probably another spring plate followed by friction plate and the final drive plate.
