Oh yes!
Ive got an Arai Corsair and a Shoei XR1000.The Shoei is a far quieter lid imho,...its well made and was half the price of the Arai.(Good discount at the BMF show)
Shoei for me.
You really need to try them on first,...you may not have a Shoei/Arai shaped head!Saying that tho,the top of the range lids have various thickness liners and cheek pads for the perfect fit.

I've got an Arai, a Roof and 4 Suomys!!! - The Suomy is just a much better fit for me and is a cert for racing as I can see out when tucked in!!! - the Arai sits too low on my head and vision is restricted.

IIRC - you either have a head shape that suits Arai / Suomy or one that suits AGV / Shoei - different constructions etc...

The answer is to try as many as poss and buy the best that fits you and that you can afford.

Seems like fit is the key as you have all said - so much for sizing charts then! They can join the ranks of chocolate fire guards and the birth control pill...

Deffo down to which shape fits your bonce best, I've got Arai, Shoei and AGV and all fit slightly differently. Arais are noisy but I use mine almost exclusively now, with earplugs in it really isn't that bad even on high mile touring days. The Arai is the lightest of the ones I have but it is also the newest so maybe the later AGV's and Shoeis are lighter ?
