Felix, It's way too late, I've been an addicted fiddler for years. I have already had the work done to reset the cams but I'd be particularly interested to know how much others had had to adjust (via verniers or keys) to get their cams where they wanted them. It staggers me how far they can be out. It won't make a lot/any HP on its own but I wanted to take a look at the cams and rockers before commiting this 996 engine to the frame. Rgds, Rob |
If anyone is interested, it made 116.2bhp with a great curve and 77.4 pound/foot torque. 996, Dialed cams, FIM single injector chip, 45/50 mm spaghetti headers, K&N filter with open lid and Termis. Can't wait to ride it now. (Tank at Tony B's for respray after bike fell of work table) Rgds, Rob |
I fancy having my cams set up correctly one day but to be honest i think you need to have it done as part of a general blue print of the engine. 7 degrees sounds a heck of a lot but its a bit less than 2% when you work it out. |
Just as an addition to my earlier post, one inlet cam lobe centre was at 80' instead of 100 ish, rest were a lot further out than I originally thought. Took over 9 hours to get them set, still got to wait and see if there is any improvement as am waiting for a flywheel before engine is back together. If anyone fancies a set of STM adjustable pullies, I have a set for sale. [Edited on 7-2-2004 by ducv2] |
