ps wots the standard front sprocket? always great to drop front by 1 tooth, makes a great acceleration mod.

Be Wary of DID Gold X-Ring chains Glyn.

We have stopped supplying them because of amount that break on twins.

It was supposed to be a dodgy batch that was three years ago and I still hear stories of them breaking now.

It`s not just the inconvienience its the damage done when they fly off.

long time ago.........
had a chain snap on an mbx 125 snagged on my nice alloy swing arm and near on pulled it off.

mort standard st2 sprockets are 15 front and 42 back
would'nt mind trying the smaller front, but how much difference will this make to an st2 top end??

has anyone out there done this on an st2?

Rushjob 20-Mar-2004 18:39

I did - my old ST2 had a 14/42 setup and went like a train.
Don't worry about losing top end speed - when was the last time you got it to rev out totally in top?
By this I mean hitting the rev limiter!
In the real world this just does not happen - my ST4S on standard gearing is set for something over 175mph if you could red line it - the real world top end is at least 20mph below.
Change the gearing...if you're that bothered about the cost, a talon front sprocket is only about £14 - buy the altered gearing when you replace the chain & if you don't like it, get a 15 & someone will no doubt have the 14 off you.
Do it.
Go on.
Go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on

Yup. Glyn

15 to 14 front, you'll think you got a new (and better) bike

I'll second rushjobs comments for the st4s, the 14 tooth sprocket is the best/cheapest way to more useable performance.

Not sure about st2 though but for the price its got to be worth trying.
