999 Make over

Well has certainly tidied up the front end and removed some of those "black" plastic bits (unless you already have a carbon fairing)
The perspex light cover.....still prefer the look without the cover, but at least it will stop the 100's of pesky flies from splattering themselves over the light units & inside the fairing

Nathanhu.....i am interested in your source of DP footrest kit for the 999, but my German is not too good ?.

Cheers

Chris

Actually, they're all fairly small changes really, despite MCN's blustering about it. The shape and contours of the bike are identical to the current model. If the headlight assembly and mounting points are the same, you could just stick a new nose cowl and left and right panels on, and you'd have all the changes.

OK..............here we go children

Personally (and seriously Skidlids) I like...........

Head lamp covering
Sealing the upper air vents

I don't like.............

Widening the fairing...........works for me (and my new slimmer shape :D )
Losing the side vanes.........only from a cosmetic viewpoint

Looks good. Hope new fairing will retrofit current 999.

I think he's right

Nice 1 posting the scans everton.

Bear in mind this is almost certainly an MCN photoshop job and not even the actual article. There are no mounting points visible for the new nose cowl -- how's it supposed to stay on? Also, there's no join in the fairing panels on the cover pic and it looks weird where the wind deflectors should be. The fuel tank also seems to have different contours.

Also, the bike on the cover is different to the one inside the paper. It has a Casoli or Ferracci sticker on the swingarm chainguard, and a US-style number plate, whereas the bike inside has no chainguard and no chain adjustment sticker.

Think we need some caution before judging any *alleged* changes on the basis of a (sloppy) MCN simulation.

Dave I'm with you on headlamp cover and the upper vents, but I also like the idea of a slightly wider fairing and the loss of the side vains but would like to see some sculptured cut outs in the side fairing as it is looking a bit bland an the mock up pics.

And now on MCN's site, they claim Ducati are denying it.

April Fool anybody?

Hahaha!!

MCN......................

Made up and Cobbled together Nonsense

:lol::lol::lol:

Jools 24-Mar-2004 13:44

MCN Nonsense?????

Er, yes!

According to MCN 'all the changes been done at the request of the race team' for aerodynamic reasons? Why have the lights been altered then? Does the racebike need more aerodynamic lights?

I think not
