update Went to Wales for the weekend, to do a few decent miles on the bike. Glad to say it's as f***ing brilliant as I hoped it would be, especially now it's running properly. A couple of minor niggles:- the riding position is way too extreme for a bike with such a useable nature- even my '76 Morini 3 1/2 Sport is comfier! With the bars 3" higher it would be perfect, but this is not possible without modifying the fairing (as has been mentioned elsewhere). for some reason my LH mirror will not twist up enough for me to see anything! The RH one is fine, and I thought at first the subframe must be slightly twisted, but it's definitely the mirror. How much are they? Don't really want to change anything much with the bike. I like the way it sounds, with more noise from airbox than exhaust, though carbon or Ti cans would look nicer. I also still think it needs a belly pan. So that's about it! An indicator bulb blew, though it was the least offensive one, the LH front. Even managed to fit a few tools and the bike cover under the seat! Great bike, I'm well chuffed. If anyone is reading this and considering buying a 900SSie- well, I've never ridden an 8-valve Ducati but as a road bike, the 900 has more than enough stomp. :sing: |
good to hear you got it sorted 3narf. On the comfort side, you must be pretty tall? I'm 6'1 and find the position fine (apart from knees rubbing slightly on the side fairings). If you're willing to mod the top fairing, you could fit a monster yoke and bars (looks awful though). On the mirrors, Halfords are still doing the SS replacement mirrors (although don't know if they fit to ie) http://ducatisportingclub.com/contro...d.php?tid=1697 Frank has also fitted extension blocks which look like a good idea. http://ducatisportingclub.com/contro...d.php?tid=7750 Cans on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...tegory=10 448 Bellypans http://www.spareshack.com/cgi-bin/br...on49 00s4bod1 Happy riding! Tall? I'm 5'9"... It's not really a comfort thing, and I am used to sportsbikes, but with the SS seat being quite high it's actually difficult to keep looking up after 50-60 miles. You have to rotate your eyes back in your head, and after a while, going over bumps, your eyes refuse to focus. Gets quite nauseating! Thanks for all the info regarding the other stuff. I might actually fit a Monster top yoke eventually, with a small screen & belly pan. I do like the looks as they are, so I'll put up with it for now! 40 in three years' time, so I'll need more comfort... |
