I was caught doing 114mph on the M56 many years ago. I got 5 points, & a £280 fine. I already had 6 points, & they said they'd make it 5 so as to bring it to 11. they made a point of saying one more point & I'm banned. Did the trick- havent had any points since.
By the way- the duty solicitor in court represented me. Pleaded with them not to ban me as I had a house, car, & would lose it all etc etc if banned. It helped that the JP's were young I think.
