By the way has anybody ever tried slick 50 in a duke? Yup |
Hello, I am using 15w50 silkolene oil, so far no problems although my local Ducati dealer only seem to stock 10w40 and could not understand why I would need to put any thing other in. I have had one engine go bang am am sick of paying for rockers, that Ducati deny are a problem. I will change my oil every 2 to 3000 miles and see how I get on. Like I say so far no problems, bike seems to run well after a good run. Hope this helps some. . . regards TopiToo |
Michael's has used Shell Advance Ultra 10/40 from new without any problems. Never needed new rockers either... |

Yes, even worked alright in my 750ssie with a wet clutch! Never been anywhere near a dyno so dunno if it makes any difference that way, just feel better riding it before it's "properly" warmed up! |

so is it recommended then?? |
Believe the manufacturers of Slick 50 are being sued in USA as they cannot prove conclusively that it works, however I have seen it being put into a V12 Jag engine and watched the idle revs increase as it circulated. What does this prove?, not sure, but the engine was certainly quieter afterwards. As an aside, Castrol make a 15(?)/60 oil for high performance car engines (not reccomended for bike engines with wet clutches). Anybody think this will hold together better at high loads/temperatures?? Am willling to try anything after my recent rocker/cam lobe interface problem :D:D:D |
