Really, really, really nice!!!! |
Andy I see you've lost none of your tact & diplomacy...:-) If he's happy - let it lie..... |
1 Attachment(s) oh allright then........ |
Don't fancy your's much.....;-D |
Looks nice, cant understand why Ducati dont ass a bit of wire mesh to the V piece to protect the rad\oil its not like it would break their bank account, that was one of the first mods i did to my 1098R and have one on order for my Bayliss |
Looks great, enjoy it. I had some 996 rearsets when I had my 1098S. I tried them but they did not line up exactly and while thinner bolts would go through I was concerned that for one they would not be as strong or secure but the main reason that I did not use them was because of possibly damaging the threads meaning the original bolts may not go back in. |
How dare you andy I am a visionary bodger not a follower! see your point Andy but they work they do the job and everything is fine in life, plus as i mentioned i like these rear sets and there isnt many other out there that i do like. if i milled them out and made them fit with the exsisting holes i guess this wouldnt be a bodge as you couldnt tell, ill try harder next time..sorry. As Mum says "Go and have a poo on the toilet for half an hour and calm down" or the more applicable with this thread. "if you havent got anything nice to say.. dont say anything at all" Delicate arnt i ...bless |
Your bl00dy right Ian about the thread, although the load is limited until I put my entire weight on the rear sets (stand on them) it could be enough to knacker the thread, and then iam stuffed. Prolonged pressure on the bolts would cause fatigue over time and the only way is to remove and measure etc.. Until I have enough pocket money saved iam going to sit it out. For now they save my family jewels when going over bumps in the road and heavy braking. I understand the consequences should the bolts snap off whilst riding the bike and I know it wouldn’t be pretty. Saying all this yours are the only other rear sets i like but at £400 there a little way off for now, i am a bit dry with the purchase of the bikethe insurance, the cans and the other bits and bobs go on it already. the rear sets was a quick fix. |
I cannot see the bolts snapping and if they are tight enough they 'should' not move on the threads anyway so if you are happy with them just leave them, save you some cash too. |
That's the difference...some people like to look and polish, some people like to actually make them how they want them and use the things ;) Can't see it when you're thrashing the big, red git, trying your best just to keep up with the speed of it! It's lovely, enjoy :) |
