Which is why I ask about whether 5 spoke ally wheels (from say a 2002 900ssie or a 2003 1000ssie) would fit fit a '98 900ssie swingarm. Perhaps there are different size 5 spoke wheels (SS vs Monster) just to confuse things further......

I will be able to confirm later when I get home if the rear 5 spoke from a 2002 900SSie will fit the earlier arm as I have both arms in the workshop and will be able to compare the spindle diameter as well as the width across the inside of the arm.

Thanks Skids.

I can confirm that the front spindle we have is 25mm and the rear 17mm.

Skids - as far as I can see, the earlier 900ssie arm is the same as 800 and 900 Sport steel arm. And 5 spoke wheels fit them cos my 800 Sport road bike is thus equipped atm (although not for much longer).

Find some S4 wheels - I've seen S4 wheels pop up on eBay regularly and Jim at Bike Enders has them in from time to time too. 900S, 800S 750ssie 3 spokes (although the 750 rear is a 4.5" rim) will also fit because I used them for a while until I got some more 5 spokers.

Phil - does your bike have the underslung rear caliper?

Later 2002 900SSie curvey arm has a 17mm diameter spindle and 240mm gap between the left and right sides measured at the spindle position, this is exactly the same as the earllier 900SS alloy swingarm that I also measured

As Nigle said try giving Jim at Bike Enders a ring in Romford 01708 455530

Don't think S4 wheels will fit they have 25 axles?

Well there must be some variability in them then cos I have two! And they fit. As do ST4 wheels. I guess Ducati had been playing with spare parts bin!
