Any synthetic oil will do... ...as long as the spec is correct & it's from a reputable manufacturer. The difference between £20 & £40 for four litres is probably minimal compared to warming it up for an extra minute and not lugging it about in too high a gear. And modern oil filters are designed to last something like 20 000 miles. Obviously I'm not advocating this for an air/oil cooled engine... Just get the thing warm & give it a regular thrashing, that's what they all want, the scarlet jezebels! |
No need to go looking too far for Shazaam's excellent post on tyre weights - its still here.................. http://www.ducatisportingclub.com/co...d.php?tid=3305 Shazaam - I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts on friction modifiers......I'll admit to using Slick50 in my 900ss purely on the basis of fuel consumption reduction and the possibility of giving some of the moving parts a slightly easier time....comments please (might be worthy of a seperate thread !!!) Generally - I'll stick with buying the best I can afford and changing it all as often as I can - - I think I'll get my coat !!!!!!!!! Cheers - Frank |
Oil filters. I seem to remember that Duke oil filters are the same as a Citroen 2CV! Pattern filters are available in places like Hein Gericke. They used to do a deal where you got 5l of Motul semi synthetic, oil filter and an air filter all for 28 quid. |
Yep - have a look at the interchageability update I posted earlier + here is a interesting oil filter study I must read fully sometime !!!!!!!!! http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/oil_filter_study/ Happy Studying Frank |

Here's another oil filter "study" (For "study" read one man, a hacksaw and lots of beer... Ain't the Interweb thing great.). Having said that he make's no claims as to scientific method so... http://www.twocreeks.net/toby/oil_filters/index.shtml Interestingly the Ducati filter comes out well as does the K&N. |
