Firstly they are made in France to answer danrduc's question.

Secondly, whilst I rate the opinion of DSCers way above MCN it did cross my mind that of those of you kind enough to give me their opinion none had tried the Roadsmarts. MCN voted them best tyre last year and I thought I would be doing you all a favour if I fitted them.

Whilst I have only ridden them for about 5 miles I can report they look good:lol:

just tried out my new Pilot Roads, dual compound, and they were better than I expected. A lot of grip on very tight back roads, warmed up fast, very comfortable on the highway. did a total of about 150 km of two lane switchbacks going up and very very tight and narrow (for Japan) switchbacks going down the other side of a dead volcano. My buddy was on a Tuono R and he is bloody fast, but he did not press the point and we had a fast, but safe tour. tires gave me no insecure moments at all. Now I wonder how they will wear. Oh yeah, he had about 2300 km on his Tuono R and the Pirellis were getting close to exchange time....he does ride hard though.

I've fitted a Pirelli Angel ST this time around.
It grips just as good as the diablos I had previously, and seems to be wearing much better. A recent trip that would normally cost me a tyre for the trip has left this tyre still looking in good shape. They are worth a look next time imo.

I thought the pilot roads were good too, but just didn't last for 2 up riding.

get rid of the pillion! hahahahaha

I really liked the Roadsmarts, ended up about 33 and 36 psi. They had areally good feel, I thought, once I got the rear pressure down. The catalog recommends 42.
Just mounted a pair of the new Q2's, I'll see how they feel and wear.

Tyres ST3s ABS
 

I'm thinking of trying a set of Michelin Pilot Road 2 CT units on my ST3s. I have had them on my previous Honda CBF and my Yamaha MT01 and found them to be way superior over the OEM Metzeler units.

Any thoughts on their likely suitability for the ST3s?

Yes, i think they are very suitable.
I run them on my ST2, so no real difference between mine and yours.

Yep, PR2s will be just fine. Pilot Powers are also good.

I do suggest you consider the angle STs though.
This has become my new favourite tyre as it grips superbly and wears really well too.
