It is twin cable.

What is the procedure for fuel tank removal (to get at the throttle bodies)? Looks like the seat unit and tank are connected and both need removing. Maybe I can just prop the tank up at the front to gain access?

Fuel tank removal.
Remove the two bolts either side of the seat and two bolts underneath. If its a Bip there are a couple of bolts under the passenger pad that have to come out too.You can then lift up the tank and seat up get access to the joining bolt.On the mono the rear section of the seat has a peg that just pushes into a rubber grommet.
I usually prop the bottom of the tank with a bit of 4x2 while I'm undoing the 17mm bolt that releases the seat from the tank. Then its just a case of unplugging the electrics and releasing the fuel line unions. They are quick release items, the same as the 916 syle bikes, although some early bikes just have a hose clip.(Dunno if the fuel pours out,I guess it does.)You should now be able to remove the tank.

KB,

Cheers, figured it would be something like that. Is there anything that secures the front of the tank?

The front of the tank is held by two pegs on the frame that locate into the tank. These allow the tank/seat unit to be adjusted back and forward on the monoposto.

Has anyone done a definative list for the parts required to change to a 998 throttle.
I know the twist grip housing and cable, what about at the other end? Any specific levers or brackets etc??

Ill do it then as my 999r has way too much throttle rotation! its almost as if you use two handfulls to get full throttle.

I saw a race 999s at Rockingham today with this very mod!!
