been looking at alli tanks on ebay and wondering what I could get to fit; some of those norton and triumph one,s oh and TZ ones, seems decent value rather than a custom made if it can be fitted.

Most of the bikes mentioned above have a spine frame so their tanks are unlikely to fit

yep noticed they do, well the ones with pics shown upside down

think its either off the shelf, like Ron has, or custom job like Ghost's (altho not as extreme!)

lets see what the winter brings....mine will probably be just as much a rat bike come March as it is now!

Neal Catling's alloy tank is a tidy enough job
Harris Performance use to have Monster Alloy tanks along with others in their catalouge, pretty sure it was Asa Moyce making them for Harris.

The Guy that did my 2 into 1 conversion said he could do me a Alloy tank, but with most these things they are never going to be that cheap if they are hand built one offs

Just don't go near thetankshop.com I sent them a tank of Skids as a template last October, with a promise it would be ready before the first round... and a promise for every round after that. When I cancelled the order 3 weeks ago, he apparently still intended to make it!!!?! FFS!! Thanks to Awesome Lawson I got a bargain on eBay that cost less than thetankshop one would have anyway... And is a much nicer shape for riding.

I did approach an engineering shop in Stike area. He would do one to order and pressure test it but as with everything else n life he wanted £450. For that he did a template knocked up the tank and threw in a cap.

There are a few alloy tanks for competition cars on the bay but could not find one in an appropriate shape.

Not sure how long that has been on Ebay, I do recall coming across it before now and if it had of been suitable for an SS I would have had a punt

Ron - did you do it yourself or get Dave to do it? I have an SS tank in the garage incl pump, 7.1kgs (just weighed it) and wonder it (electrics relocating aside) it is that difficult to go on.

Jolley 13-Aug-2011 20:07

Mine isn't an SS one. It is an 888 one, which shares a very similar frame to the monster. Did it myself (plus father). My monster tank was only 7.1kg anyway (including cap/hoses/filter), so I doubt you would be saving much with the SS tank, and just creating a headache for yourself.
