As Simon says Be good to have pics of both a SS and Monster along with prices and what parts were included in the price and what wasn't |
I looked into it for last year, and if I provided 900 headers and a tailpipe he was quoting 200 (assuming everything else was straightforward). |
bike now away from home so cant post any pics yet the outlet is still high level, so similar to the home made job last year, but the work underneath is art! Less work than he has with Simon,s as its straight out the LHS £200 all in reusing both header pipes and end can, rest either made in situ or off the shelf and made to fit AK mentioned when I dropped it off how he'd tapered in in then out for the long pipe to get the gases right, bloke knows what he's doing as he's been making them over 25 yrs ;) |

I still don't understand te requirement for 900 headers as they are 40mm diameter same as all monsters. Yes they are a bit longer to deal with the extra stroke of the 900 engine but thats immaterial as they get cut to be joined to a new collector. My SS 2 into 1 conversion using 900SS 40mm headers cost me £125 including link pipe with me provideing the headers and the Silencer. and only have to travel 12 miles to get there, although when I had it done I just called in on the way home from work Standard System on the Left my 2-1 conversion on the right |
All I went with was my standard bike and a couple of 1098 exhaust silencers which I got off ebay. I wanted to do a two into two but you dont really have the space, esp tyre clearance - so its a two into one. He used my standard headers and welded in the the sensor probes into the them. Binned the old collocter and made a new y shaped one. Everything fits nice and tight. The cost was £250 depending on what you want, I think this can go up and down if required. The bloke is very fair. Very happy with what he did, see what the dyno thinks at the end of Jan!! |
What size end cans did you use guys?? I've got a pair of 916 50mm Termis I was hopefully going to use. I did think I'd need the pair??? How does That work then?? Does it boost midrange / sacrifice top end with a 2 into 1? |
research says to me 2:1 boosts mid range and reduces top end a little Hugh had twin 916 cans in his 583, but think the single can fits neater into the frame on an SS. Wont fit the same on a 620 monster; absolutely no room at all for the up pipe to get to the end can unless you go round the outside of the swingarm |
It's for a 620 and it's going in an SS frame .. be interesting to see what the numbers come out like on the dyno |
