Well if people took the time to read their ACU rule book (or CD version) they would know that its within the power of a ATI trained Scrutineer to report any Erased or Altered frame or engine number to the Clerk of the Course who inturn Can exclude SUSPECT machines from the meeting

Note it says erased not removed so this could include being covered over to make it un-readable

ATI = Anti Theft Initiative

Bernie Called in such a Scrutineer at the final Hottrax round at Snetterton and every bike had its details checked

This bit has been in the front of every ACU rule book for about a decade now
and as you need to enter it on the scrutineering card it should be posible for the number entered on the card to be checked against the one on the headstock

In addition to Kev's reply below, the worst case scenario is that you will have to scrape back the powdercoating to reveal the number and then put some clear lacquer over the top.

which is what I would be doing if mine was covered, no point in taking a risk; likely plod will be called and take bike.
