Update!

Called A16 - spoke to Paul - bought pair of removable baffles for £28.00.

I appreciate that they may need a little fettling to get the result I'm after.

Let you know how it goes.

Shurely do don't need anything more powerful than a push-bike in Jersey?

By the time the engine got warm, you'd be in the Channel!

Hi Moto748,

You're quite right, Jersey is not a good place to own a sportsbike, and running a Duc is seriously strenuous.

However, France is very near and that's where we go for all our trackdays - Val de Vienne, Magny Cours, Croix-en-Ternois and Folembray (until the noise restrictions came in). Riding French roads is the business, although watch out for the speed traps (oncoming French drivers WILL flash warnings at you).

I'm off to Pau Arnos in October with Byrne-Up Trackday Tours. I've been on about 15 trips with these guys and can't recommend them highly enough.

They are not the cheapest, but their organisation is first class and you get the added bonus of their unique "guided ride" to the track, which should really blow your mind. No dual carriageways or motorways, just well researched curvy A and B roads, no worries about navigation and all fuel and refreshment stops pre-scheduled. On my last trip, not trying for high speeds but just riding with the group, my logging speedo recorded 164mph (at which point I seem to remember a Gixxer coming past me, already braking for the next corner!).

Contact Heather on (say Spin sent you):

Jersey does have one advantage (or 2 - no VAT) - low mileage 2nd hand bikes. You do not want to know how much my '02 998bp (with trinkets) cost me.

And before you ask, you have to pay VAT if you buy in Jersey and export to the UK.

All the best,

Even if the bike is second hand ??

I believe that VAT is calculated on the second hand value. I'm not an expert on this, but if there was a profit or a deal to be made, no-one would bother selling second hand vehicles in Jersey.
