Old Yella 10-Oct-2004 23:15

After the usual field bikes from being about 9 or 10 my first road bike was a Beta MX4-S.
A 50cc enduro stylee bike, went well enought to keep up with my mates on their FS1E's and the like.
Lasted weel to say it was ridden every day and night for about 14 months before I could afford to 'upgrade'? to a Suzuki TS100ERZ.

Jeez they were funny times, ten 50cc bikes racing as fast as possible down the local high street at midnight, its a wonder were still here to remember it! :o

And heres the first one...which is why you should never let a 17 year old loose in a rocketship. Note neat indentation on bonnet from lampost..:(:D

Cheers

I had one of these :)

Just imagine a silver one with a scatty 17 year old girly behind the wheel !!

The escort XR3 was Fords first serious attempt to enter the world of the Hot Hatches and compete with the likes of the Golf GTI, Producing 96 bhp from the carburetted (twin choke Weber) version of the 1600cc CVH mated to a four speed gearbox. The car had to be carburretted, as Bosch could not supply ford with sufficient supplies of injection systems, as ironically, all their production was being used for the Golf GTi. This gave the escort a top speed of 113mph and a very respectable 0 to 60 sprint time of 9.2 seconds. Boot Spoiler and sport style interior were standard but Cloverleaf Alloy wheels were an optional extra

yep I had a Fizzie too, DX version with the disc brake, '76 P plate bought well s/hand for £120 I think, snot yellow with pedals and a self-destructing plug cap which used to pop off after a few miles being nailed, great fun at 16 !

dave w 11-Oct-2004 18:02

Suzuki AP50..... with A100 engine in fastest 50 in Bournemouth.... blow away any fizzie !
