the sound is the nuts imho.

I fitted a vented cover to my old 916 and found the noise unacceptable. Loud rattle and sounded like the bike was about to fall apart.

Fitted an aluminium clutch and the noise level dropped right off, to almost what it was before fitting the open clutch cover.

I'm gonna fit an open cover to the 998S, but not until I've got myself an aluminium clutch. Another benefit of the al clutch is it's only about a third of the weight.

Another alternative for a quiet clutch is the 48T STM. They are also alloy but with the 48T there's even less rattle. It stays quieter for longer to, as it wears less quickly.
