Lily 24-Mar-2005 17:19

not saying, i dont want to get caught by one of these handbags being swung around :P

the summary

Phil has not had 'training'
by sounds of it Phil has slightly less power (but who really knows ;)
Phil has a good amount of track time
Phil IS fast

Tony has done training
Tony has tricked up bike by all accounts
Tony is doing every track day from now to eternity
Tony has been riding more years than I can count

both have sporting backgrounds and can handle the psychological side of things so i reckon its gonna be an interesting battle!

fil2 24-Mar-2005 17:20

With the exception a few we are all novices having NEVER raced before ..we know not what to expect..!! we are on completly different bikes to our road bikes that need to be ridden differently...we are in a new enviroment of nerves adrenalin etc...the least of my worries is who is or is not fast at this point in time..when im on track its 1 place at a time...thats if i can get to grid cos i have no fooking clue as to how the day is run ????

Heh, I wish but I've already had 4 holidays so far this year!

Brands tomorrow (if I can stay sober long enough to get the bike on the trailer) and then some serious building needed on the DD bike before some more cheeky trackdays and setup then let's see what happens :D

domski 24-Mar-2005 20:30

Can I just add, that as a betting man, I would not bet on me... yet!

I think I will defo have one of the best bikes on the grid, Louigi is a star and I'm blown away with his work, HOWEVER, Weeksy is right and I am fat, unfit, not ridden in 2 years (on anything - apart from the missus) and I'm not looking forward to the first turn at Cadders!!

IMHO, I think you could still put the best rider on the worst bike, and they'd still win. This isn't MotoGP where is really matters about the bike being perfect. 10bhp is nothing in racing. I've had my arse kicked by a fetus riding a 125, when I've had 100bhp advantage, and I've also beaten riders with far superior machinery.

I can't wait for 6pm on 1st May, when it's all over and Louigi's bike and I, are still in one piece... Whatever the results!!

Fordie 24-Mar-2005 21:08

:lol::lol::lol: 4D

skidlids 24-Mar-2005 21:12

Not a lot of bhp figures getting quoted, gone a bit off topic.

I could comment on a few riders and how well I think they will do but lets wait for the flag to drop.

So who's bike is in Tecmoto at the moment getting fettled

[Edited on 24-3-2005 by skidlids]

the old man 24-Mar-2005 23:08

When the flag drops the bull **** stops - everything else before then is fiction.

And; you can't compare racing to track days just like you can't compare track days to riding on the road.

Old Man he says, "race schools can teach you theory and technique but it mostly counts for jack when you're six abreast with the back wheel off the ground on the brakes and going for an 18 inch gap".

Seriously, just spent a whole day on the M1 picking the beast up from Nelly and I'm well chuffed. Engine sounds sweet as a nut with no top end rattles, deeper voice and nicely free-revving already.

The big bonus was fitting the shock from ebay.de. Seems to be a highly-pukka unit with the damping adjustments having loads of effect. Funnily enough Nelly commented the casting looks the spitting image of an ohlins, and the number of rebound clicks was the same..... :D We'll see tomorrow!

Cheers,

ali

That'll be mine then :D

skidlids 25-Mar-2005 00:12

I think is was Dickieducati's as it was a Monster

antonye 25-Mar-2005 00:15

Ah right - he was having his cans and rearsets fitted today.

Mine was having the big-bore fitted and some *ahem* fettling done to it

Felix 25-Mar-2005 00:25

So who is the ex-MRO racer that racing with you lot?

skidlids 25-Mar-2005 03:04

Don't know, dont care, I've been lapped by the best of them so another one isn't going to make much odds.
I could always get one or two of my mates to get in to my riding gear and do the odd race, they will only be considered if they have won either several club races, club championships, raced as BSS or higher or have won at the IOM,

Me and a few of the BHC massive have a little sweepstake going on who will be the champ at the end of the series.Too difficult to predict each round as it sounds like there will be a few "ringers".
Personally my money is on a BHC regular,...........no pressure mate!!;)

Christ, Kev, you've got some nice mates!;)

skidlids 25-Mar-2005 14:27

Felix its because I have been hanging around the club scene for so many years. Going to places like Lyden where the likes of Shakey and Danny Beaumont would be on the front row of the 600s, guys like Kenny Everest was a novice when I first watched him and helped him improve his bike setup so much so that he won the 600 race proper the next day where as up until then he had only won the Novice races, Now he is a MRO winner. Sadly I don't see as much of them these days as I use to. Its good to go to the BSB & MRO meets and catch up with some of them, especially when I go with my mate Adrian who keeps saying I use to beat him and him and him .................................................. .............
Where as I say I've been lapped by him & him & him..............................

Thats why I know I'm not fast as I know so many that are.
