Took me 4 hours to get to Cadwell, 5 hours to get to Snet, 2.5 hours to get to Castle Combe and it's around 45 minutes to Brands.

JPM 08-Jul-2005 18:04

You need a faster van! lol!!

Sure but most stay over and enjoy BBQ's, the banter and the camaraderie that is DD.......its all part of the experience and the distance almost become irrelevent..:)

ok confused here...

we did snett to dibbles in under 2 hours. dibbles to brands in about 20 mins so we could go via brands and dibbles from yours and still get there quicker than you :o

And we were fully loaded with two bikes in a hire van! You driving a metro with a trailer Tony?

TP 08-Jul-2005 18:12

Nah - just lots of traffic when I was going to Snet - but it's still 3 - 3.5 hours. We had the kids too so had to stop for food.

Problem is for me personally being self employed (I know Tony's gonna come back and say so is he!!!) I'd have to take a day off to travel etc, probably another day (2 half days) to sort bike, load and unload, hire a van blah blah blah.

For me to do a TD in the week effectively costs me the best part of a grand with paying for the TD, van, fuel for van, loss of days pay, wear and tear on bike (tyres, oil etc) fuel for bike, food/drink.

Thus why I am doing as many TD's at weekends this year, they cost a bit more, but that is easy outweighed by not losing a days pay.

why.?....

because they are circuits i have ridden on and feel comfortable. If I was to do DD it would cost me a fair amount and I doubt I would get much chance to do track days as well to get experience as such I would prefer tracks I have already been to and feel happy with.

So am I!!! (I hate to disappoint!)

And I think my costs are higher than yours ;)

Your sponsor probably helps out though eh? ;)

Doubt I/we would get any sponsorship from the flat cap and whipet brigade Ooooop Nurf!

Nudging back on topic....

Been to both, Cadwell was visited for the first time this year, and I'll be back for TA4.

Oulton flows more than Cadwell, which makes Cadwell to me, more challenging.

Cadwell's cheaper, more available and somewhat more evocative than Oulton (for me)

If there's a TD at Oulton on 26th July, I'm up for doing it back to back with Cadwell. All in the interest of science of course.

Both are 5 hours+ with the trailer from my seaside abode.

Well it certainly helps but it still doesn't make up for me missing out my daily rate, not by a long shot.

have done cadwell twice and oulton once
both excellent tracks but i prefer the more technical
cadwell with all the up and downy bits:roll:
