Hmmm yes I want it Monty, thats why I paid ages ago. I wanted it bad ( lol )
But not sure where I stand if you start changing the day from its orignal spec. I dont just track with any ol tom dick and harry you know.
Seriously I would take the Duke if it was all DSC and dukes only, but Im not gona pay 145 to take my manky Track Gixer with the attitude of dont care if I bin it like half of the non memeber nutters on their track bikes. My duke is my road bike and I try my best not to bin it on trackdays ( yea I'm prepaired it might happen ) but I feel safe with the other DSC members who all have the same respect and most of them that I go on ride outs with.
Hope it picks up soon or a decision made soon.

Yes your absence was noticed and your card marked accordingly-seriously though mate, hope you can make it.

I hope to keep the day Dukes only or at least members only-or even members on whatever they like and others only on Dukes, whatever. It may sound as though I am panicking-shades of last year with Rockingham then-but this is the most expensive trackday I have ever booked, it has cost us over £13,500 just to book the track so potentially a BIG loss to the club if it falls flat-BUT-there are still 8 weeks to go so plenty of time-if my nerves can take it............:puzzled:

I think we have to get this over to people who havnt booked (yet).

Last monday at brands there were about 20 people who hadnt ridden brands before - and who had booked the ess day with its extra structure and free xx9 rides.
The novice group was small and looked relaxed, while the 'other' group was also small but much more intense, with several people on dedicated track bikes.

How about having novice, inter and acu groups ?
Would that comfort people who dont want to risk a 'racing-type-incident' upsetting their day ?

ziggi 12-Aug-2005 12:00

I'm glad it's at Brands. It's only fair the DSC trackdays tour the country (bit like England International football games). I would like it DSC & Ducati only but would accept DSC member + another bike, if it means the day will go ahead.

It's bad enough being overtaken by everyone as it is but i'm damned if you're gonna overtake me on your yamasukiwhatever 250 two stroke ... again ... this session.

I think that's not a bad idea. But, I don't think there are enough people in the club with ACU licenses to fill a group. Also, there are people in the club who are plenty quick enough for the fast group, who don't hold ACU licenses, and shouldn't really be in the inters group.

Perhaps all ACU license holders who book it should go in the fast group for the DSC day? That will prevent sharks from floating around in the inters group or even novice. I think there will still be a variation in pace but the slower people will be on the right line generally and be used to being passed. That would be ok in the fast group IMO.

What does everyone else think?

Monty 12-Aug-2005 15:29

Bearing in mind the comments from Cadwell about grouping WJB and myself + of course all the other instructors will be keeping a sharp eye out in the first round of track sessions and then moving people up or down as appropriate. There will be no 'sharks' in with the 'minnows' with no disrespect intended to either group.
This day IS going ahead, it is too late to cancel it now anyway as we would still have to pay for it-I just need lots more people to decide to book it.

RedMist 12-Aug-2005 15:53

OK, OK, enough pressure already.
Hang the expense, sod the lack of holiday, bu**er putting track miles on the duke, who cares if I'm oop north............................................. .my form is in the post tonight John:D:D:D:D
See you all there,

Ian

PS: Appreciate it if don't put it through on the card till September.......... you promised:eureka:

bradders 12-Aug-2005 17:10

I promised myself no more long term booking of trackdays due to appalling weather on most of those I have done...

Pav 12-Aug-2005 18:23

Did Brands for the first time this week, I have to go back because (a) it was a great day and (b) only managed to get my right knee down :(

Got the form, will try and clear it with the powers that be over the weekend.

If you're still undecided perhaps this pic from Tuesday might encourage you :eureka:

pah! You don't need to be fast to have an ACU licence - I'm testament to that so let me tootle around at my own pace!

Before you ask, no I haven't and yes I will....

RickyX 12-Aug-2005 19:20

I'm intending to book.
Am just going on Hols for 2 weeks but will be booking after.
I don't want to miss getting a place so if it looks like it's going to be opened up to non-DSC, non-Ducati's then please contact Scott Weston (748_ARSE) and he'll pay up for me.
Thanks Scott!!:sing::sing:

Anyway, us southern softies have to endure 5 hours of slog up to Cadwell, how come you rough-tough northern 'ard blokes(and bloke-esses) can't reciprocate???:lol::lol:

R X

ziggi 12-Aug-2005 22:15

well , i wasn't gonna say it but, yeah, what RickyX said

Jon 13-Aug-2005 00:17

Now then now then Ricky. This northern midlander comes south quite often.
If only to show you southern nancy boys how to ride;)

no, coz I dont ride John!! So waste the day as I dont want to risk my bike when its slippy....

deej 13-Aug-2005 18:46

i will see how much cash and bike i have left after my little project and how i get on at silverstone

i still have a weeks holiday left to take and would like to do it even if its only the indy circuit, is camping available the night before ??

whats the latest i can book by and when will we know if non members can go as my mate who's doing silverstone with me has a v-twin only its a sp2 and he can do donington gp in 1.50 so should be okay and safe for the fast group if hes allowed in

cheers

deej

Monty 15-Aug-2005 09:26

Deej, you can book right up until the point that I have no spaces left-then you can STILL book, but you will be a reserve.
Camping-afraid not-the powers that be will NOT allow camping at Brands-that's one of the reasons that I always run a day at Cadwell.

Well, this is why I said there would still be a variation in pace. But if you don't feel comfortable then don't go up into fast. You're there to enjoy the day, not feel uncomfortable because you're in the wrong group.

So get booking, and I'll do the same :D

That is soooo the wrong response Tony. You're supposed to say;

"Chi, despite the fact that you haven't raced, and despite the fact that you seem to fall off with alarming regularity, it is obvious that you are ridiculously fast and choose to go slow to make others feel better"

I can then respond in kind by saying that "You are a racing legend with kung-fu moves that are only matched by your movie-star good looks".
:D

ha ha ha ... someone at Cadwell asked me this question ...

"Is Chi trying to become the new Dibble" ....

I honestly didn'y know whether to laugh or cry for you Chi .....

chicken 15-Aug-2005 12:18

Tony, you are a racing legend with kung-fu moves that are only matched by your movie-star good looks.

Pietro, there's no way I could become the new you (the plastic surgery bills would be prohibitive) - nice to be talked about though!

No need to cry for me. Touching wood, damage has been minimal so far and that's the way it is staying!

Dibble 15-Aug-2005 12:21

no need for surgery .. just do the 3D diet..

Dim Sum
Donuts
Drambuie

Dibble 15-Aug-2005 12:25

Dim Sum
Indian Take Aways
Beer
Bakewell Tarts
Lots of chips
Eton Mess (mixture of strawberries, single & double cream and merangue)

[Edited on 15-8-2005 by DIBBLE]

Monty 15-Aug-2005 12:58

You'll be ok Chi-there's no chicaine, and I promis not to show you the lines-at least that way if you do decide to fall off it will be all your own work.

Redruth 22-Sep-2005 21:22

I was talking about this this afternoon with Mike the Mechanic. I HATE paddock hill bend. I hate it so much it makes me feel ill to think about actually paying to go back there. My eyes always fix on the gravel and I have to force myself to look ahead. And then it bottoms out. Other than that, the Indy track negates the real joy of Sertees.

And October, it could be raining, (although that's the case for any month).

Ok, I'm in. :sing::sing::sing: Of course, I've lost the forms. Monty, if you want to U2U me where to send dosh etc I'll commit.

And if you do open it up, which frankly I approve of because then other people have the pleasure of seeing at least a couple of dozen Dukes out there and can just drool over us, I'll tout it around a couple of bikers in Hemel who may be interested.

Redruth 22-Sep-2005 21:31

Just seen the other thread and printed out the form. £140 now, right?

Will post tomorrow. Delayed encashing of cheque would be good though. ;)

DT 22-Sep-2005 21:47

It's my first trackday... All I know so far is mirrors off and let your tyres down a bit. Do I need to tape over my lights? If so what's the best way to do that on a 999? Anything else?

Can't wait.:burn:

Monty 23-Sep-2005 10:56

Taping up lights etc-Duct tape-the racers friend. If you don't have any come and find me, I have always got loads.

THIS DAY IS GOING AHEAD-so for those who haven't booked, do it, if you want to ride on the least crowded trackday you have ever been to. The club has to pay for this day whether we use it or not so we are using it-LOADS of tracktime-woohoo.

John

ziggi 23-Sep-2005 12:13
