We men are such simple creatures ...

ScottyB 20-Oct-2005 18:23

Yeah,

You should remember the old squaddie rules in life Tony........

They have never let me down yet.

1. Never **** a bird with shorter hair than you

2. Never **** a bird with smaller breasts than you.

3. Never **** a bird with tattoo's which are spelt incorrectly.

Anything else is a goer.

on a more ducati based theme, which is why I joined here , can anyone help me out on a few items of info.

what would be the best 999r to lookout for.
is new allways the best option, or is a good used bike more viable from a spec view point.

what problems shold I lookout for and what probs can I expect to get with one.

what are the difference between the 999r models from it;'s early models to current model year.

any help would be nice before I go out and start to look, need to be armed with as much info as possible .

thanks K

now back to the jovial banter;);)

ScottyB 20-Oct-2005 18:34

I can only help you out Kitty if you can confirm that you do not break any of the above 3 rules....

DukeKitty 20-Oct-2005 18:36

not even close ;);)

Someone with more experience on these bikes will be better able to help ...

Do you have a budget in mind? 03 999R's are still around £11k or thereabouts I think. Maybe a touch more.

What has attracted you to Ducati's? Do you like the shape of any particular bike? I'm a fan of the 998/748 shape although the newer shape is growing on me .. kind of like a fungus ...

I'm no expert on the 999R's so can't help with the difference between them, JPM and the like should be able to though.

Best to ask that question on the 749/999 board,....I'm sure all the 'R' bores/snobs will be along to fill you in with the gorey details.
Basically,'03 bike,Cast swingarm,carbon everything,'race can' with very small outlets,136bhp.
'04,more of the same but with deep swingarm,139bhp.
'05,Wider top fairing,no top vents, taller screen, front guard now painted with Corse stripe, assymetric Termignoni system and a claimed 150bhp.
Oh,and mines a Stella or Red Stripe while you're at the bar.

DukeKitty 20-Oct-2005 18:53

thank you guys.....

I'm not trying to be chauvinistic here (that's if you are really one of those opposite sex types) but if it's only for the road then you are wasting your money. Get a 996/8 or 999 bip. If however, you are intending to do TD's then yes yes yes get a 2005 999R. And if you do, and you are a women, then I will be for always your slave

I feel I must reply in some way or other to either compliment or insult you but I haven't got a clue WHAT the f*ck you are on about. Who's "Clifford" :puzzled: what's or who is OMG:puzzled: and why is there going to be a rush at the Spar for mouthwash and Lynx :puzzled: and further more why tomorrow. :puzzled: Has this to do with this LYNX thing :puzzled: What is Lynx :puzzled: How do you know I look like a dragaon:puzzled: You've offended the wife now. There's only room for one Dragon in this household BUDDY :pig: Now the wife feels threatened, Thanks a lot MATEY, live in hell, I'll meet you there with my mouthwash and friggin what ever it is LYNX.

ath748 21-Oct-2005 07:47

In the listerine advert there's a dragon with bad breath, name is clifford I believe. But I'll stand to be corrected on that one.

OMG stands for Oh My God. In the same way as imho stands for "in my honest (or humble) opinion".

Lynx is a famous deoderant brand with a current slogan of Get More (or something like that) - relating to totty obviously.

Ade.
