Ace, sounds like you are gonna have some fun! Please keep me up-to-date on your progress... Where are you located? |
yorkshire , west , :) |
749S already has 14T on front sprocket, so I added 2 on the rear. It livened it up a hell of a lot. I ran it for half this year like that, and whilst it is much more responsive on the road it does run out of steam at the top end on the track. Depends what you're after I guess |
yep thats the name of the game, trial an error , 14 front seems good for999s road , i would think 14 f an 2 up on rear on 999 an excitin prospect :D interestin to see what the s tops out at with 14 on ! |
I figure Im going to get the Termi's regardless of power difference etc. A Ducati is simply not a Ducati without Termi's :-p ... it would be nice to know what sort of power difference will achieve beforehand though. York, West, is a bit of a ride from west London.... flag that idea :( |
I don't reckon I got any increase in peak power, but fitting the Termi itself (or it's ECU) increased the responsiveness and the midrange. That plus the sound make it worthwhile. Adding the Power Commander recently changed it again and it is now like a different bike to ride. You get used to a bike after a while, and I've had the 749s for 2 years now from new, so doing something that makes it feel "fresh" again makes a big difference to the experience. |
I have put the standard cans back on :flame: As the plod said that nicked me I could here you coming half a mile away. I guess Surrey police are not so forgiving:flame::flame: Still awaiting the summonds:sniff::sniff: |
HW, yeah, I figured as much. However, I am looking to benefit from the reduced weight (approx 6kg's according to Daytona...??), i.e. power/weight ratio. Yeah, the power commander sounds like the 'must-have' after the Termi's. Happy 'fresh' riding :-D |
I've heard that about Surrey police. I've always been told to increase the gear, or put it in neutral during Police 'ride-by's ;-) Sorry to hear about the summons. Try contacting MCN to see if they can provide any advice - they're a helpful bunch they are... :) |
Is that Thames Valley area? We were stopped last year on a Sunday returning from a weekend of drinking and riding around Bletchley. It was a mass hold up in a village car park. Everyone was being pulled in for a "safety check". All out number plates and cans were checked to make sure they were "safe". No brakes, suspension or anything else was checked. A few tickets were handed out ... oh and a few leaflets about their website were given out to support the "safety check" excuse. That was when my mate on a Falco was told he could have been done twice, once for each can (discussed and debunked on another thread). I had totally standard bike at the time, apart from my dark visor which I flipped up when I saw us being waved in, and kept the helmut visor towards the ground in the carpark. Anyway, a year and 6000 miles later and I've managed to keep out of trouble. |
at the end of the day boys , and girls , no sexism here , if we put these parts on expect the worse , and be thankful if plods havin a good day !! "if you car,nt do the time dont do the crime " as they say :) by the way does anybody know the exact speed that you can pass through a speed camera without it registerin you ? an dont say within the speed limit !!! distance covered , time elapsed type thing , i rekon its got to be about 150 !! |
Jeremy Clarkson did that speed camera test in a variety of cars on Top Gear... pretty funny stuff, despite Jeremy being a hypocritical S.O.B. I think the TVR did the trick at around 180mph - anyone know the exact speed?. Anyway, at the lower end of the scale I use a 10% margin as my rule of thumb, e.g. 30mph + 10% = 33mph max. I agree, if you can't do the time, dont do the crime --- but where's the fun in that?! |
I think the police use the 10% +2 rule, and I think gatsos are set to same? UK Speed Traps has a whealth of info on various types of traps, accuracy, detectors etc. Edited to correct URL [Edited on 14-11-2005 by HW] |
hay damian im no spoil sport , i run a 999s wiv termi an a small, ish :D plate , im just say,in if i cop for a pull fair does !!!! pay the man !!! |
Slightly off the original Termi subject, but carrying on with the old bill topic, went out yesterday for a quick jaunt around where I live (N.Wales), and passed a V70 on the side of the road. Noticed him giving me a glare, I carried on, shuffled my elbows to give me the one inch of rear view vision my mirrors allow me (999!), and saw him turning round. So, I saved him the hassle and pulled over. Anyways, he nicked me for an "un-safe" number plate ! He said we cant see you if you go through speed cameras! Nice enough guy, and he also said that Richard Brunstrom (Chief Constable) was a tosser of the record, which I found most amusing. But, when he pulled me, He asked if I knew what he had come after me for? Now, I had a dark visor, termi`s, small plate. Jesus I was scared to answer incase I pointed out something he had missed lol... Just the plate, didnt mention the visor, or the termis........ But, he did say, put the big plate back on, and buy some of that spray stuff from the internet that hides the numbers from gatso`s !! Good old North Wales bobbies ! |
Nice one WC I'll tell the boys. Which road were you on G |
Mold-Denbigh road mate, he was on the corner near the Denbigh Showground. He wasnt on the lookout for excessive speed as such, just sat there. Could have been worse I guess, could have been for the visor and the can, so £30 is a bargain :p Neil |
