a 1000cc supermoto... that'll be a beast! Looks the biz too, Ducati have outdone themselves for sure. A 620 version and I thinks I've just found a new DD bike! |

too big , too heavy sorta destroys the whole supermoto thing and ktm have already done that with the SM950. sold my supermoto and only time i regret it is in winter, they are fun for 70 miles of wet road sliding and have to be cheap to fix when you bin them hence the plastic tanks/cheap moto x parts prices on ktm 640's etc bet that baby aint light, and parts wont be cheap.need to be light as well and the v twin lump ain't. its just a modern big naked road bike cloning the fashionable super moto look, hardly groundbreaking although it does look nice :) |

I sold my KTM Duke cos it wasn't a usable bike other than in winter , bought the Mulit cos it did everything reasonably well as have lots of other superbike owners. The hypermotard is a nice toy to have but I'd need a few other bikes in the garage first, maybe if I had a Monster and was looking to replace it I'd consider one. Its maybe different for me as I've got roads I can use a superbike on and places where the smaller supermotos are fun as well. Horses for courses and all that... |
Valid points Mike, the reason i bought the 950 Adventure over the better looking 950 Supermoto was the fairing, bigger tank etc for practicality and the ability to cover more miles and the prospect of 'doing the Sahara again' I think that new Ducati will sell really well, like the original Monster did, especially in Europe, and it'll make a great bike for poseing round the towns and just looking GOOD. I can imagine a lot of them parked outside cafes/bars and bistros in sunnier climes than ours. It will be a great lifestyle accessory as well as fun to ride. From a marketing point of view bigger is often better (even if you can't use all of it properly). I think Ducati need this bike to boost sales, the Monster has been traditionally a big seller for Ducati for years, and i feel this is the new Monster, which in itself was never as practical a bike as some others. |

As monster replacement its flawed as well, the Monster has a low seat height, is perfect in cities and looks different, a tall heavy supermoto won't appeal to a lot of those customers :( its an expensive toy and if anyone can sell that idea its Ducati so it'll be a success :) |
Like Couchcomando said in another post, it's not really a Motard, it's a road bike in the same vien as a Monster or Multistrada and if it's as good to ride as either of those then bring it on :) |
Gizmo, excellent point about possible seat height difference between Monster and Hypermotard. Being selfish, and with the inside leg measurement of a giraffe i never give things like that a thought. |

Certainly looks nice, but the Ducati badge looks sort of wrong, it's not what they "do". I also wonder if it did by any remote chance get taken off road, how long it would hold together? If I was in the market for something like that, I'd probably look at the KTM or even the BMW HP2 I sat on one of those at the NEC; despite trying not to be impressed, I was, actually). Similar concepts (twin, 100+ bhp, 170-ish kg) plus some off-road pedigree. Still agree Ducati would sells loads of them if it ever gets into production. Andrew |

Steve Fair point, I'd forgotten that. But nowadays when someone says Ducati, you think WSB/BSB/MotoGP not off-road racing. KTM and to a lesser extent BMW have a track record (excuse the pun) of success in off-road events. It does look nice though. Just my 2p worth. Andrew |
