Blimey bolds, thats never the same bike,is it? |
So what new bits did you get? You appear to have gone from a 749 to a 749R.................well done mate! |
Yes pretty extensive list of most bits: Termignoni exhaust system 05 model box section swing arm 05 model fairing kit then S/H 749R Carbon fibre side fairings 999R 05 Carbon front mudguard Carbon rear hugger Ducati Performance alloy rear sprocket 520 D.I.D Gold 520 race chain Ducati Performance ”Bucci” Slipper clutch JHP Clutch slave cylinder Carbon clutch cover Carbon Sprocket cover Carbon Cam Belt cover Michelin “Pilot Power” tyres Ohlins Radial Front forks Radial Brakes Ohlins rear shock absorber Frame and wheels powder coated 05 colours 749R Larger capacity fuel tank Ohlins steering damper Ducati Performance screen without side light And no i didnt dare keep list of the cost  |
Isnt the cost of that list bordering on a new 749r or a 999? add another grand for track fairings for your original and voila....the best of both worlds! |

Wow, expensive re-build, especially when there are 2004 749r knocking around for £9k. Bolds, I would be interested in how much the tank was worth and how you fitted it to the standard 749 frame, I thought that the 749r tank had slightly different mount points at the front. |
Quote:
Looking at his bare frame, i see the ign and tank mount is welded to the frame.............on mine its bolted! Im doing that black as per the jhp race bikes........... |

[/quote] Yep on most standard bikes, base and S model, it is welded, on the R it is bolted in. The 749r has a larger tank and as such I was unsure how you would fit the larger tank designed for a bolted in mount to a frame with the standard welded in mounts. |
The bike was cheap to start with due to the crash damage The tank i think was around £700 using the Ducati performance one out of the catalogue and fits straight on to existing mounts as they are the same |

I'm guessing you're getting the kit Andy? We did actually discuss the various different linkage options and there are a few believe me , but John knows what's best I guess |

You wouldnt believe there could be so many variables......... Itching to get my frame back and start putting it back together........ |
Good reading ! Good luck with puting it back together andy. Hope ure not left with any excess nuts or bolts. . . . . . . :biaggi: /ian |

Thought that was the sign of a job well completed? :puzzled: wondered why mine was rattling a bit... I'm toying with going down the same route as bolds, so will be interesting to see how long it takes you Andy. I've a feeling that the end product will be well worth the effort though... :biaggi: |
Andy and bolds - either of your projects would make a great technical article for Pronto :) |

Just got back from jhp,boy does your frame look good or what! 1st coat of gold hammerite was dry,Rick was just about to start brushing the 2nd coat on !:lol::lol: Butch |
that wouldn't be funny at all. no, i wouldnt laugh for weeks if that happened, no not at all . |

I specified smooth hammerite................jeez they cant even follow instructions! Did they tell you how special my frame was/is?:smug: |
You still need to get those cone nuts off the ignition? Get the right sized bolt to fit into the thread of the cone nut, about 40mm long or so will do, then wind a nut onto it. Now wind the nut and bolt into the threaded cone so you've got lots of thread in there, then wind the nut up to the cone and tighten it right up. Now you can start to undo the bolt and it should undo the cone nut. If not, tighten up the nut some more and try again. Finally hold the bolt and slacken the nut, then you can spin off the cone nut. HTH. |

Have you taken something? |
Yes |
Andy, have you cut your fairing so it fits the 04/05 swingarm? also need to mod the link pipe?? looking good;) |
Quote:
And yes Andy they did say how special your frame is - NOW! Butch |

Yeah all that to come.........:D |
ooh, ooh, ooh, my frames ready!!:sing::sing::bouncy::bouncy: |

whats the tales of woe for not masking your engine number?? it will still be there underneath:puzzled: |
mine was masked!:D................and i hope the shot blasting prior to powder coating removed the rust around the headstock as well! Not bad for a £20000 bike........... |
I didn't mask mine when I had it powder coated, although I didn't have it shot blasted. The powder coat has made the frame number less obvious, but you can still see it. |
The frames back....... |
