that is why I would never go on another commitee and why Ive learnt to let everthing go over my head and just ride out and meet new friends.

Someone has to run the Archery club and organise the swimming, they will never please everyone but if they are at least prepared to listen to other peoples views and act to try and facilitate change what more do you expect them to do ?

Ian you are spot on with your observations of the committee structures.

So why when so much is changing in the direction that everyone wants to see is it time to bale out ? It is a committment but someone has to do it.

Paul

The reason is that by their actions over the time since the AGM it is clear that some of the MT have not changed their attitude one iota. They still do things without consultation, treat people on this board and others without respect - remember the hobbit?, remove threads without following the club procedures, send malicious and unwanted U2Us, etc.

You say there's a new world. Some of will take a little convincing.

Paul James 06-Apr-2006 11:10

We've made significant progress IMHO, it ain't all going to happen overnight but it is happening and we have an openly stated committment to do it.

You guys have the ideal opportunity to make a big difference, why not at least give it a chance ?

It hasn't been pleasant for any of us believe me but somebody has to try to keep things going.

If the hobbit was the worst thing we'd had to deal with I'd be a very happy bunny. Some nastiness from all quarters has taken place so please don't keep on as though you and the others who have chosen to leave now are some sort of saints mate. We've had a good old ruck and its now time to put it all away and get on with what matters.

We've an agreement, lets work with it !!!

In the spirit of what's been said above I've decided to put my toys back into the pram and ask for my membership to be reinstated and carry on as RO for Surrey. Reserving judgment on the MT issues at the moment until the dust settles a little.

Best news I've heard all year! I've been trying to put a post together outlining how much I have appreciated Chris (and CK's) freindship and ride-out organisation over the last year.

Suffice to say that owning and riding a Ducati has been a life-affirming experience for me over the last year, and the enourmous contribution both Chris and Charlotte have made to the Surrey section have been a huge part of this.

She's my auntie and I'm thinking of painting the SPS a nice shade of pink!!! See SPS = Sequin Pink Special. Ok love :frog::frog:

Henners 06-Apr-2006 14:41

Lets set the record straight ...

.. I resigned because of the actions of the chairman in removing my moderator status without telling me or consulting the whole MT who I am informed would have opposed it. This indicated to me that there were still some 'old guard' behaviours at play. To compound this I have mentioned above certain other things which some of the longer serving MT have got up to which I find abhorrent.

On the same evening Webby - unknown to me - also resigned from the club. We have been mates a long time so we discussed what we would do next and the idea of Ducati down South.com was born. Having taken advice from members of this club and the MT I have decided to put the launch of this new message board on hold for several reasons, not least of all because of the potential damage it could do the DSC.

Webby has made the decision to rejoin the club and having talked it through with me I fully support what he is doing and wish him every success as RO for Surrey.

I understand that Jasper has started a poll on the members’ area of the board looking for support in getting Webby, CK and I back as members. I can't speak for CK however for me it is not the right time to become a member again and I need to be convinced that all the assurance Paul James is making are met before considering taking that step.

Can I correct one major assumption most people have made? When I resigned it was assumed that I would not therefore fulfil my role as chairman of the club constitution committee. Nothing could be further from the truth and I look forward to getting membership responses from the advert in Pronto so that this piece of work can be completed as soon as possible.

I will remain a committed board member and look forward to seeing you all out and about before too long.

Explains a lot dahling. Ask her if she'll run the rules/constitution review committee for us, I'll chip in a tenner to pay for half of her subs. :P:P

Bike scheme sounds impressive to me, will you be having white fluffy cuffs on the sleeves of your leathers to match ???:o:o:lol::lol::frog::frog::P:P

We lost touch a long time ago but I've never quite lost the taste for pink!!:lol:

WeeJohnyB 06-Apr-2006 17:30

So can we put a lid on this post and get on with the 98% that's great about this club PLEASE?

Good luck if you're going, good luck if you're staying. Move on.

Now

Spring is here, I had a lovely blast up to MJK to pick up my new Daytona boots, trackdays have started, DD racing is on, MotoGP, BSB and WSB are on the box, new fairing arrived for the 600RR so looking forward to spraying it up, rideouts are on the board and I'm defo doing more this year, BMF looks like it's a goer, Pronto is on the mat, the sun is out, the sky is blue and there's not a friggin cloud left now to spoil the view.

Thank you Henners for your succinct precis of the situation "to date".

It really doesn't matter whose club "scarf" you are wearing in the end - we all like Dukes for various reasons - let's all look forward to the coming spring and have fun.

Maybe I'm confused here but are you suggesting that as a non member you still feel its OK to be involved with the constitution committee ?

dickieducati 06-Apr-2006 21:34

with all due respect, surely this discussion can take place off board?
