Not wishing to spoil my exemplary record of attending all things DD/DSC, I'll come along too.

Did I see a map of it being somewhere near Oxford? Have you fixed a time and date yet Paul?

If it's near Oxford I can get in a few laps at Bicester Shopping Village before or after so that would be a good venue for me

Did suggest that but to be fair to all we are now getting the postcodes of those attending and looking for a sensible, central location for the meeting. Not set the date yet as the suggestion will be going into Pronto to give all members a fair chance to come along. I would think a Saturday in arly/mid November.

Before is best, bring cakes !!!!

Tonio600 13-Oct-2006 12:07

Paul do you need postcodes from the racers or can you get them from the surveys?

Probably easier if you just fire them at me by email if that's OK ? That way I can pick up the racers and non racers all in one place and it includes anyone who picks the info up from Pronto.

Send to paul.james@ducatisportingclub.com put DD meeting postcode in the subject line and your name and postcode in the body of the message please. That way I can direct them into one outlook folder using a simple rules wizard.

skidlids 13-Oct-2006 12:37

If you draw a 90 mile radius around Postcombe I bet it covers one heck of a lot of those racing or interested in DD, for those that don't know it, its a few miles futher West along the M40 from last years Diner and Dance and the venue has a function room that we could utilise.

Thats why I suggested it mate. Bit of a trip for Ian but I'm sure if we can illustrate the geographical distribution of attendees and it ends up being around there anyway all will see that its decided on fairly.

Redruth 13-Oct-2006 12:58

Just a thought. How about holding the meeting on Sunday 29th after the Dinner Dance? Chris would know how many people who've already put their names on the list are going to be there on Saturday night and for those that haven't yet got their tickets (Ali! - Saara's looking forward to putting a smart frock on - Tonio, Julie said she'd like to go I believe) there might be a few more takers for that too. The BHCN might even swing by after a Sunday morning rideout out  There might be a conference room available at the hotel that could be booked - and I could go shopping in MK afterwards so I'd be happy too :)

We can't do it that weekend. So ideally I'd like the meeting to be hold another weekend. But then it won't really matter if I'm there or not... It's not like if I had a whole lot of good ideas to help make things moving forward.

Some good plus points but not necessarily enough time to get it out via Pronto.

How about the second Saturday of November (11th) ?

Tonio600 13-Oct-2006 14:06

sounds good to me.

phil_h 13-Oct-2006 14:08

11/11 is good for me too.
I'll take a car full from down here if murray and tonio and someone else want a lift.

Iconic944ss 13-Oct-2006 14:10

Dear Racers,

I believe I've managed to collate all the postcodes via the membership details.

UNLESS your postcode has changed in the last year - there is now no need to forward your details to PJ.

Regards - Frank
(Helpful DSC Webteam :) )

weeksyracing 13-Oct-2006 14:11

If anyone needs a bed for the night, i'm 15 mins or so from Postcombe and will proivde 2 double rooms with beds and breakfast for Free.

phil_h 13-Oct-2006 14:21

Just an idea - but if anyone who knows me, and believes I am impartial, and cant make the meeting but would like a hot update via me -> send me the specific things you are concerned about and I'll try and represent them accurately and text/phone you the feedback asap during/after the meeting.

If there turns out to be more than one of you :o and you dont mind your specific concerns being confidentially shared, then please let me know how confidential you want to be.

There !
I've either (a) dug myself a deep hole, (b) put myself up as a laughing stock, or (c) prepared a bridge for those that cant make it.
Whatever !
I didnt get where I am today by worrying about what people think of me
However, I'd not be happy if I didnt try and make a positive effort, even if the doomsayers think I'm stupid.

Iconic944ss 13-Oct-2006 14:26

Well done Phil - your a brave man but, its good to see the DSC / DD spirit is alive and well.

Frank,

You are a star but......... no point in adding the postcodes of people who ain't coming is there ? Also some non racers are attending. So back to plan A and keep sending me you postcodes as previously requested.

The postcode list Frank has sent will of course be handy for sending out Christmas cards.

Some validity but we don't want anonymity really, thats the whole point of meetying, come and do it face to face, if you want someone to represent your views thats OK but at least put your name to it.

I've just realised that it's the Armistice... It may be better to pick a standard day, with no national celebration or anything, we'll have more people to the meeting.

What about the 18th?

It's a conspiracy

I thought the idea of doing it on the Dinner Dance Sunday (29th Oct) was a very good idea.

Do we really need this to go in Pronto? (there's irony for you) I would have thought that 99.9% of those interested are contactable via an avanti if they haven't already read about it on here.

Tonio600 13-Oct-2006 22:18

As it was my idea, obviously I'm in favour of it being after the Dinner Dance (or in the afternoon beforehand if that suits people better) but I agree with Dom - does notification really need to go in PRONTO? Riders have been contacted by e-mail throughout the season. Has there been any problem with that? Anyone who is interested in the DD who isn't actually a racer would have been looking on the board (or Dom's sight) for race information so should have seen this thread. I actually think that putting yet more into PRONTO about an unofficial DD/DSC meeting would just irritate members who are not interested. If something is raised at the meeting that affects the whole club and requires a vote from the whole membership, then put it in.

I am Dom ;)

Paul, I really don't think putting a notice in PRONTO will be worth the paper it's printed on. The next PRONTO issue is going to contain the redrafted constitution. I think that's enough for people to think about, if they're going to think about anything. Frankly, I don't think anyone who isn't involved in the racing one way or another already is going to show up.

Avanti would be a good way to notify people if it worked, but it doesn't, as Eamonn has explained recently. Other than that, those that are going could give their fellow DSC mates who might be interested a bell and tell them about - cheaper and quicker way to put those who need to know in the know.

Yeah, it's a long way from Jerez to Postcombe too!! ;)

Paul James 16-Oct-2006 12:46

This was discussed at the MT meeting on Saturday and my concept of holding the open members meeting unanimously supported, as was my continuing to work on resolution of the issues regarding Desmo Due in preparation for 2007.

The date has been set as 18th November to allow us the opportunity to put the information in the impending issue of Pronto. This will allow all members to attend should they wish in the true spirit of openness and transparency.

The venue for the meeting will be determined by the geographical locations of all those wishing to attend who also send me their post code, as some of you already have. There is no need for you to send your post code if you have no problem with travelling to the meeting from wherever you are situated.

Please use email: paul.james@ducatisportingclub.com

Should you be unable to attend for any reason but wish your views to be discussed in this open forum please feel free to send an email to: secretary@ducatisportingclub.com with the details.

We will openly discuss any issue you may put forward in a public arena can we agree to save the issues until then so that proper discussion can take place.

It is all too easy to get the false impression that Desmo Due is a totally flawed series, nothing could be further from the truth as the continued enthusiasm of the riders has shown. For some time now I have been promoting the value of rider input to the series. I’ve suggested that they make their offers of help available to us so that we can run the series cohesively with the added benefits that they can bring.

I will have some proposals to put forward to you at the meeting based on in depth consideration of the first two years of our club championship.

Thank you for your ongoing support and enthusiasm, with this I fail to see how 2007 can be any other than the best year yet for Desmo Due !

I have also suggested that we have an open to members, informal meeting each year, possibly at some point during the summer, where general views and suggestions can be made on how the club can be improved in any other respect. This will give an opportunity for Desmo Due to be seen in its proper context by members who don’t compete in the series and to understand that it isn’t the clubs only point of focus. If people join DSC to enter the series surely that is no worse than joining because they want to do the track days or go on the regional rides or get involved in anything else we do ?.

Our club aims to be as all encompassing as possible, Desmo Due is one of the core deliverables available to any member who conforms to the rules and as far as I’m aware a unique opportunity to enter racing inexpensively and with fellow Ducati enthusiasts.

We have no problem with openness and transparency, I am personally happy to talk with any of you on club related issues wherever we may meet. Continuing with bitter forum postings will do no favours to the club or the individuals concerned. Should anyone have an interest in promoting hatred and antagonism I believe the following forum could offer the ideal resources for that: http://www.visordown.com/forums
