However one blatant faux pas!

WHY WHY WHY only one headlight on? I hate this on "side" headlamps it just spoils the whole balance and symmetry. Will every1 who buys one, plase always ride round on full beam.

thank you ;)

never had that problem on my 749 ! LOL

Lol oh so true.

Stacked headlights look cool with only one on, wheras side by side looks broken...

Ah look at us all harking back to the the classic 749/999's oh how everyone remembers them so fondly especialy in their design, an icon i think ...;)

I'm not sure, but i think that's because of some stupid law about rodoviary security

If you notice, all the bikes that came out in the last couple of years with dual headlight have one one headlight on (except for the 04 R1 that has 4 - 2x2 - front lights).

The current RSVR has both headlamps on all the time whether on dipped or main beam, which is how it should be IMHO if you have side by side lamps.

Also on the 749/999, both are never on at the same time its either one or the other, so it always looks good.

The 1098 appears to use similar headlamps to the 999 juts layed out differently

Seriously though - the black looks awesome... :D

Well i'll be sure to "****" my leg over one as soon as possible, hopefully i can try and persuade my dealer to lend me one when i take mine in for a service :)

If this is as light as claimed and it is said to outrun a gsx-r thou in all conditions, coupled with the power delivery of a twin, is it possible that Ducati have created the perfect sportsbike? It could well be possible we are witnessing absolute greatness in the making here.

I can't wait to see/ride one in the flesh.

The EEC decided that with both headlights on,at night it could be confused with a car but much further away due to the close distance between the headlights which has caused motorcycle fatalities in the past.If you get my drift.

Still, one good thing to come out of the new bike is that lots of us can get our 916/998 bikes valued when the Antiques Road Show hits town!

It's a 10% thang, Ducati 824 doesn't quite have the same ring to it as 749:lol:

Shan't be bothering with one of these new gutless 1098s gonna wait for the 1198r or 1200r, when ya go as slow as I do round the corners ya need BIG BHP to make it up on the straights:frog:

Ray.

Someone better tell Aprilia then! as their bikes have both on all the time;)

Ray 09-Nov-2006 11:39

Was thinking of trying to keep up with 583 DD bikes round Cadwell on the DSC days:eek:

The 998r just can't cut the mustard anymore:eek::D
