That looks good!

don't let the forks put you off if it's the right bike!

See this thread for how to convert to SBK forks.

Fiscus has already done it, and I'm in the process.

Nat, that 851 looks sweet!
(and gives me a much better idea of what the SS will look like with black frame and fairing)

Nattyboy 13-May-2004 18:43

Of course Ali, if fork spec bothers you ive got a lonely pair of brand new 916 forks in the garage ...!!!!

851 does look sweet doesnt it..that paintscheme is fantastic..very understated. If I had the room in my garage id be writing a cheque now !!!

Ohlins 888 SP4 forks are probably worth £750 on the own on ebay ..!!!!

Hi Nat,

I've tried leaving Louigi a message, and I sent an email a couple of days back, but he doesn't seem too keen to sell! I'd love to take a look this weekend but I don't know where it is in the country. If you get the chance drop me a line on my mobile. I'll u2u the number.

Cheers,

Ali

Disgustingly clean. Needs to be ridden more.... Failing that the owner needs to come round and clean my bike....

Natty, I'm curious why did your mate fit a 2 valve to the 851 chassis? Are early 4 valve engines really that hard to come by?

Chi
It's not done yet I have all the bits bar the top yoke which apparently is being made while we type. I then need to find time to put it all together.

That 851 looks great - the reliability of a 900ss motor and the handling of a better frame and forks.....

Sweet.

Go on...you know u want to Ali !!!

ali 13-May-2004 23:25

I've just had a chat with Louigi about the 851. It's an ex-BOTT bike from many years ago with a '95 900 engine in. I have no idea whether it was done for racing or whether the old engine was destroyed. The work done looks top quality and Louigi is undoubtably a man who knows a bit about dukes. I'm off to have a look on Sat afternoon if they finish the work on it (dead carbs), and will post some more pics saturday night.

On the other hand I may go to the pub and post the pics sunday lunch.....

Cheers,

Ali

ps: This 851/900 would be worth about 10p two years from now, wouldn't it?

pps: That incredibly clean 900 is up for £2.2k until Friday 3pm (trading it in).

Hi,

A couple of nice totally standard 900ss's in this ads site I'd never seen before....

http://motorbikes.uk.freeads.net/sea...rdirection=asc

But you know you want that 851 !!! Its worth it for the novelty value alone:devil:

KeefyB 14-May-2004 17:54

Has anyone noticed the yellow Superlight for sale in this weeks MCN?Its got all the right bits on it.3950 of your English pounds. Its in Scotland so a bit of a treck from Herts. The phone no. is;01382 550140.

ali 14-May-2004 18:17

It's a bit out of my price range unfortunately...

I'm off to, hopefully, pick one up tomorrow but I'm keeping schtum as to where, because last time I mentioned it a DSC board-watcher went and bought it from under me.

After long discussions with Louigi about the 851 I'm going to have to leave it. I want to do some decent miles on the continent in the near future and it's just not set up right yet. It's the perfect 2nd bike, but I haven't got a 1st one yet!

Cheers,

Ali

KeefyB 14-May-2004 18:26

Good luck with the bike tommorrow.Hey maybe when you get it you'll come out for a ride with us Herts/Beds/Cambs boys!?!:D

ali 14-May-2004 20:28

Love to. I know bugger all decent roads around here. Not sure about keeping up with a 999 though....

Cheers,

Ali
