Be even better if Capirossi came on a Desmosedici.... oo errr.

Ozz 11-Aug-2004 12:48

If you didn't necessarily want a racer or ex-racer then how about Oliver Tobias who owns a MH1000 bought from the man himself and is featured in this months Classic Bike mag.

Just a thought. I'll get me coat..........

Dukerob 11-Aug-2004 13:57

Maybe what we should be doing is defining the role of a President, surely that will then help to indicate what are the most important attributes (UK based, still riding Dukes, honorary figurehead who we never see etc) before a more informed vote at the AGM.

If the role is already defined or someone else has suggested this then I missed it cos this is a long thread and I got fed up reading it all :borg:

Anyway what about Suzie Perry, bet she'd show up :frog:

AK 11-Aug-2004 14:05

Susie Perry got rid of her monster, as she now has a Honda....:(

Perhaps one of the MT will let peeps know what is in the present constitution for the DSC regarding the role of president - term of office & duties expected etc, as is rather pointless discussing changes that quite possibly may not able to be implemented:puzzled:

now, did I mention Zaus???

Ummmm.... obviously I'm new to this game, not being a member of any other club, but I was thinking of those little practical things, like wouldn't it help if the president was still alive :o ......

Or the Sport Classic Paul Smart rep.

[Edited on 11-8-2004 by STEVE M]

Tempting Ruth, tempting. What you can't see from that picture is how red I went :D ; the view I got looking down was slightly different to how it looked face on. He is a sweetie (yes, I have been knocking back the Chardonnay, unusually for me :P). But it'll be a while before he achieves what Foggy has achieved....

kwikbitch 12-Aug-2004 00:36

Didn't realize that they had to be British...
My a55 it is then!:devil::devil::devil:

Iconic944ss 12-Aug-2004 00:51

Its a done deal then Lisa....

But who on earth could we trust with the task of obtaining a full-colour, life size picture of our "President"

(I can just hear Yeti's fingers searing the keyboard !!!)

Frank

kwikbitch 12-Aug-2004 01:12

I think he was referring to it in "Leathers"...Well I hope he was!...:P

V-Man either you are not old enough to remember those GPS or your so old your memory is failing. For example Shhen V Roberts Silverstone 1979. Crap I don't think so. BTW who remembers the name of the back marker that cost Sheene the race? It was Foggerty (George)
Also guys like Doohan Schwantz Rainey Gardner Crap you must be joking.
Anyway if the races then were such crap and Foggerty was so much better than anyone else out there how come he was an also ran

Ozz 12-Aug-2004 10:09

Ironically just found on Tobias website that his Replica is for sale!:

Not that much slower mate, the Assen lap record Kevin Schwantz set in the early nineties stud untill the circuit was changed a couple of years back.:)

fatduke11111 12-Aug-2004 13:01

It would be nice to expect that whoever got the title, actually turned up....

....this honorary malarky...do they actually do anything??? I mean I know they dont receive any cash ...otherwise it kind of seems a bit pointless to me....might as well go for old Oliver Tobias.

Rocker 12-Aug-2004 13:12

Baisically V-Man without my generation and those before mine you wouldn't be riding the very latest high tech bike that you are now.
I assume you are riding the latest 2004 model of whatever is you ride and that in a few weeks time you will be changing it for a new 2005 model because of course you wouldn't want to be seen on "An old bike" would you
as usual with you there is no discussion just anything you don't like is crap according to you:mad:

Rocker 12-Aug-2004 17:57

It must be lovely to be like you and not give a toss for anyone else in this world or care who you upset.
I don't mind who disagrees with me and I'm always prepared to debate anything in a reasonible manner and listen to the point of view as others. You on the other hand can only sneer at people and treat them with contempt. At least this time I have not been subject to one of your tirades of foul mothed personal abuse (YET)
In future in think that I shall immediately withdraw from any thread that you post on as you make me so angry.
BTW What sort of bike do you ride?

888heaven 13-Aug-2004 00:19

vote who

1st
Barry Sheene was famous for trying to do his impression of the bionic man,Ive read the book a very very brave man but was he so popular because the british had no other sporting icons during this time.
he was extremly good at his own PR.
Foggy spoke with his bike so what if he didnt go to GPs why chance the fact you could be in the wilderness for years not earning money,I think he used his brain not some dream.
so president
why not Susy Perry she rides a duc shes british and would attend if asked.

Rocker 13-Aug-2004 00:37

Are you saying Sheene didn't speak with his bike? He won many of his races with inferior bikes not as Foggy did with the superior bike in a series that was run by Italians and designed for an Italian bike to win
Are you also saying that Foggerty was not a self publicist?

TopiToo 13-Aug-2004 07:39

Hello

May vote is not on the list, so I will say it again "your man"

Shazaam

TopiToo

AK 13-Aug-2004 12:32

As I put in previous post & also as Vman says: Suzy Perry got rid of Monster last year, as took delivery of new Honda at beginning of last season... c'mon boys, do keep up!!!

C:P

psychlist 13-Aug-2004 20:49

Il presidente......

should be someone we can all look up to (easy for me, I'm 3 and a half inches shorter than a year ago :P ) and, hopefully, someone we could all stand a chance of meeting and talking to at a reasonable level, I've only ever spoken to Mr C.Fogarty once and although he gave a veneer of friendliness to us, his fans at the time, it seemed to be just a chore for him, there's no sincerity in them thar Foggy eyes!
Not like good ol Frankie, when you're talking to him you cannot help but be taken by his open enthusiasm for people, if we could get him to turn up at our "annual function" (anybody for dinner?) then I'd happily vote him in.
I wouldnt want someone to be OUR president, honorary or not, that didnt make an effort to see what the club was about.
Has Mr Fogarty ever been invited to one of our events? If not why not? If he has, and he hasnt been seen at one, then why keep him as president? If Mr P.Smart is keen to drop in and see what we're about then I'd vote for him, anyway, it's partly his fault you lot have got me to contend with cos I got into bikes when he and then Bazza did the biz!
You dont have to be heavily involved with the club Mr president, just take an interest, whoever you are!
:borg:

Henners 13-Aug-2004 21:21

Paul Smart ...

.. outside Ducati WSB team HQ, Brands, 1st August with his Multistrada

Henners 13-Aug-2004 21:25

Alternatively ...

... I have the contact details of these ladies should a need be felt to include them in the vote

Henners 13-Aug-2004 21:27

Then again ...

... these ladies are Italian

Henners 13-Aug-2004 21:35

Van - they're lovely girls so they are :frog::lol::lol::lol:

webbyc 14-Aug-2004 08:11

Van - does that mean all us of the more advanced years have to lave and join the DOC?!!!!!

Anyway my vote goes to Paul Smart - he might actually take an interest. Foggy used to be my hero until I read his book and listened to some of the rubbish he's spouting out now.

Rocker 14-Aug-2004 08:55

Paul Smart rides his Multistrada on a regular basis.
Some Zimmer Frame.
Which modern day Ducati does Foggy ride?

Henners 14-Aug-2004 10:01

Old and Bold

I think it's been said before - it depends whether we want a figurehead or a working President. Ducati is about tradition as well as innovation - we are still benefiting from the desmodromic valve operation designed decades ago as well as the racing heritage both Smart and Hailwood kicked into the public awareness in the 70s. Retaining close links with Ducati's history ain't out of context with being a modern club IMHO. If it wasn't for my duties as a Saga Rep I'd vote for me :saint:

888heaven 14-Aug-2004 23:32

S Perry Duc no Duc

S Perry does'nt ride a DUC no more"""
Im sorry I missed this usefull bit of information, ill just give up work- riding and anything usefull and just keep an eye on whos riding what.

888heaven 15-Aug-2004 10:21

snoozing

Hi Vman
It looks like I need to start that diet thing You are what you eat""""""" I'll think I'll start with the zinc to stop me falling asleep on the job!!!!!!!!!!!!! PUMPKIN SEEDS I BELIEVE????

888heaven 15-Aug-2004 10:46

CHOICE

Surely it would be easier to gather a complete list /vote from payed-up members then contact all of them and ask if they would be interested in the position and list what we would like them to do for the club.
After dinner talks etc if they cant give that sort of time to the club then put them on a figurehead list only.
then either choose a hands on presy or a picture of one.
Just a thought has anyone actually formally invited Foggy to anything,if not you cant blame him can you.
personely I would contact Foggy first and give him a chance to attend something or actually see if hes that bothered at least youll get a straight anwser from him i suspect.
I never met him myself or Chili but the previous owner of my T8 managed to drag him away from signing his book to sign the bike outside the shop and he didnt buy the book""
Chili had also signed an SL that i went to look at and the owner said he was one of the friendlyist racers he had ever met.

Frankie would probably be very willing to be a figurehead. He already is the patron for the Adopt a Racer scheme.
