I bought the Phillips dvdr70 two weeks ago for a small sum of £150, from Amazon. And have been so impressed with it.
I have bounced down so many old bike videos which then end up in the bin. I seem to have shelf space again.
I would recommend one of these on any x-mas shopping list.

I've been holding off on buying a stand alone dvd recorder as I was under the impression (possibly mistakenly!) that there was still an issue with format, a bit like the old VHS vs Betamax thing. Admittedly I have been out the loop for a while though.

Any comments/insights?

Iam not completly up on the pros & cons, but i have given friends some of my recorded dvds and they have had no problem playing them back.

You can get a DV player for as low as 30 squids thats muti regonal, macro etc, which is good value
