Yup, its the cover blocking access to the latch. Is there nothing else I can do? :(

I'll check the original filler tonight, I've still got it in the car, but can't check the tank now not without removing the new filler, drilling the lock sounds like a plan to be honest.

You could always contact a dealer and see if they have some kind of master key, or knowledge to get round it

If the tank is off, take it to any decent locksmith as they'll be able to pick it for you for a small fee.

If you take your 999 keys you've got as well that will help as it gives them an idea of the size and shape of the key and number of tumblers, etc.

JPM, I'll wait until I hear from here before the drill gets the better of me :D

On the other hand, I could follow Antonye's sensible advice...but the drill is sooo tempting

ah - drill to a petrol tank

I assume there's no trace of petrol at all left in the tank - remember it's the fumes that ignite.

If you do take the drill to it, get a mate with a camcorder - could be worth 250 quid:lol:

 No petrol, but I may film it for posterity and post a little mpg :D  :P

it will come out with a cheap slide hammer. make sure its a good screw in it or it will just snap off but screw it in a good three or four turns and one good tug its out youll just have to push a srew driver in the hole and turn it. dont drill it! once its out you can always stick another barrel in the hole.

Zone 0, need to use hand operated drill and bronze or brass materials (for both the drill and the bit)
