I've recently bought a 206 as a sensible car to commute in etc. Have to say I'm very impressed with it, well specced, although I've struggled to find a comfy seat position for the drivers seat...
But it has got a nice temperature display on the dash which has just taken great delight in telling me it's -3 outside.... :(:(

My first couple of cars were Renault 18 GTX's and i loved em, never had any probs, since then ive had a Cavilier SRI, an Astra GTE and a big ol Mazda 626 Exec, nothing but trouble and money :mad: so went back to frenchy :D 205 GTI 1.9 :devil: how fast!!!!! then the wife went an got herself pregnant so had to get something bigger, 405 GLX never cost me anything bar fuel n tyres then a 406 GLX TD talk about economic, it came with a tank of diesel and i dont think i ever put anymore in it for the two years i had it:lol: i now have a from new 307 HDI, Its had a couple of different sencors replaced under warrenty but nothing to get upset about, after all i own a Ducati:lol::lol::lol: whats next ? mmmmmm well i like the 407 but the wife and daughter favour the new 307 CC with the 407 front end and the bigger horses engine :devil::D

If the French can launch big monster rockets fairly regularly, set off nukes, take F-1, and brew some very good wine, I guess they are fairly capable of making good cars.

I would say a Friday morning version, we only work 35 hours a week in France, Friday afternoon is already the week end :lol:

Clio williams mega avoids the crashes going even faster
306 1.4 fell apart at 95k miles

Hmmmm...I've just realised that I've had four French cars over the years.

Peugeot 309 1.9 GTI Ugly as sin, but fast and handled better than any other hot hatch of it's era (including the 205 GTI)

Renault 19 Chamade 16 valve Full leather interior, faster than the 309 but didn't handle as well...blew it's engine up at 27,000 miles. A known problem apparently, due to excessive oil consumption and a tendency for oil surge to cause the oil pump to develop an air lock when the dipstick was anywhere near the minimum mark.

Renault Laguna 2.0 Litre GLS Chosen because my journeys changed to big motorway miles, soft leather seats, soft suspension, soft engine, climate control all the luxury bells and whistles 165,000 trouble free miles in 2 years.

Peugeot 406 GLS 3.0 Litre V6 A real Q car, looked just like an ordinary 406 but with 210 bhp. Went from Lyon to Paris in it at 155 mph all the way

Blasted around in a 3.0 V6 Citroen XM with hydropneumatic suspension a few years back: Superb performance & road handling for any car (my subsequent car was a Quattro...) let alone a large saloon car.

But when it came time to overhaul the suspension and repair the a/c system it was not cheap!

Must admit, the new 307cc looks good (& practical) ....... ideal for 'her indoors'! .....and then I can borrow it..:D
