i cant even use the 62 from my DD bike properly.

come to think of it neither can you.:lol::lol:

to be far though, its quite good fun trying to keep hold of 140bhp+ on a country b road.

Steve,

I'm with Kev on this one - buy a 996 motor, sell the 916 motor....not including new clutch.

Get 996 serviced while it's out of the frame and pop it all back together.

Regarding the V5 changes - it's only a swap of engine numbers and cc..what's the big deal?

Dunno Rick, never swapped an engine before... slightly worried about future retail....

So basically we're down to 2 options.

Buy 996 lump and throw in, sell off the 916
or
Buy a 996 and go from there.

my 916 is pretty nice now, but doesn't have Ohlins, Marchesinis etc... does however have 996 forks/calipers and also the slipper.

mmmmm

yeah, i voted to leave it as it is .... I don't believe a 2% or 3% increase is worth the cost or the hassle ......

if you want a substantial improvement then you need to get a 996 / 998

My engine is very tatty.... i need it sorting... So while it's out the bike getting serivced and blasted would be a good time to get work done...

i do see your point though.

Cool ;)

I know why you want more power, and I may feel the same, but realistically it's money wasted isn't it?

Take yourself on holiday for 2 weeks instead

weeksy2 11-Apr-2006 13:56

it's not just the power .... it's the engine casing.... it's crappy on my bike... while the engine has to come out for that to be sorted... would make sense to get more done too... either in the form of a new engine of the tuning...

Tuning has been ruled out now...

so it's either the 996 or the new bigger lump

Lightweight wheels - indistinguishable from having more engine torque (and consequently horsepower) output. Improved handling is a bonus.

sharpo 11-Apr-2006 15:05

spend on the 916, you know the bike so you won't be buying other peoples problems.

The wheels seem to be a good starting point.

Skimmed heads ?

Or just be happy that you've got one:burn:
