Course the really clever thing to do would be to incorporate the "breakage" guard into the sprocket cover and make the whole shebang in Titanium.

Might just have to do a bit more research into this one.

thanks for the replies guys. the chain was the orginal one that came with the bike, only 7500 miles on it:(

from wot i can see it's only the alternator cover thats damaged, rang ducati dublin today 580 euro for the cover plus 2 hours to fit:(

had 7 days in france and tickets to french gp booked and paid for! won't be able to go now gutted :mad:

suppose it could have been worse!
