Indeed, but the 998R is bigger bore and shorter stroke, giving 1cc more at 999cc, and a massive 3hp more... ;)

Chris:burn:

Yeah, and there's a 1999 996 frame with a 2004 testastretta engine in from a 999 for sale on Ebay at the minute. I wonder if that would circumvent the rules or whether they'd disallow it because the Testa engine wasn't from a 996R and neither was the chassis?

This bike however, would have been lovely!!...missed it!

Just back from meeting with New Era and Hotraxx about next years DD, more on that shortly.

We had an interesting talk about all of the above and the options with regard to 4 valve Ducati's in the Supercup version of the Hotraxx series - food for thought as they say!

How about a trick 748RS, ex Red Bull for the new Modern Classic Superbike series...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DUCATI-748...item4aaefdd28a

..probably not if you want a race bike to fettle in your own shed.

Fragile engine if not treated properly with 600 mile service intervals and thats not just oil and filter,
And who's nicked the 54mm RS Exhaust system off it and the forks in the pics are Showa nitrided items same as my RS had which are now in Nev's 748, yet the advert says Ohlins forks :puzzled:

I'll stick with My 748RS which is now a 998 and is fitted with a Mag arm, corse linkage and matching Ohlins shock, Mag wheels, R&T forks and AP 6-pots, narrow track discs and adjustable ratio Mastercylinder, And it has a V5.

It's not to far behind the spec of my 998R, mainly missing the short stroke 999cc engine and the MT940 Dash.
the latter will be rectified when both bikes go to a 1098 Dash, Harness and Nemesis ECU, then the MT940 will find its way to the 955

But what i really need is a bigger workshop :)

Cranker V2 13-Oct-2011 20:52

What you need is to get one out of the garage and into a race paddock ann enter a few golden oldie races with a few of us next year..................
