Only One Week And Counting !!!!

keith888 03-Jun-2007 10:06

Its coming around quick isn't it! A burst of activity yesterday saw my 'new' front mudguard t-cutted and laquered. The paint may not match but at least I won't have to insult the assembled glitteratti with a T8 with a knackered piece of bodywork!

The BBC site says sun... hurrah... ....

but... others suggest rain and lightning...!!!

who knows the right God to pray to...? :frog:

Joking apart this sounds like a good idea. Then again at this time of the morning many things sound like good idea's :D

Rob B 05-Jun-2007 08:55

Nat and I are meeting on the A419 just north of the Honda (Burford A316) turning. We'll be ready to leave the Cold Harbour Pub car park at 8am but this is only as I feel that I need to get to JHP early doors. See ya there.

Rgds,

Rob

It'll be where we land. I'll try to be there early enough to do a bit of car park attendant stuff.

Rgds,

Rob

Iconic944ss 05-Jun-2007 09:08

Just out of curiosity (in case I get to watch my buddies at the Mallory TD the day before) does anyone know of bike-friendly (re: secure) B&B near JHP or Mallory by any chance?

Cheers - Frank

Herb 05-Jun-2007 09:16

Frank,

I can recomend a place in my village, Swinford in Leicestershire, if that is close enough for you. I am about 18 miles from Mallory and the same from JHP. The village is very close to the motorway so pretty convenient with a good pub. Secure parking in my garage if they don't have any.

Here is the link anyway. Its called Ravendale.

Not able to make this now - sorry fellas....

Jools 08-Jun-2007 13:33

I can't get there either...too much to do, so little time.

Still, I'm sure that you won't miss a humble Strada amongst all the SP's, but I want pictures, reports and lots of 'em.

Redsps 08-Jun-2007 22:24

Hope it was a nice day for all of you

It was a great day thanks, the sun shone, the bikes looked lovely-there were several comments about never having seen so many 888's in one place.
Oh, I nearly forgot, and John Hackett handed out ear plugs all round and fired up the DesmoSedici...................

Great to see everyone there-and no politics.

John

Nattyboy 09-Jun-2007 17:05

Great day !! And nice to put a few faces to my fellow 888 owners !!!

Big thanks to Rob for sorting it, John Hackett for hosting it (nice pizza and fresh coffee !), and the big man upstairs for bringing the sun out !!!

Great seeing the 'sedici being fired up (cant believe someone has actually BOUGHT that - exactly how it finished last seasons race at Motegi !!!) and fascinating listening to John on how it rode round Mallory !!!

Some flash harry SP4 owner will be along shortly to tell you about John Hackett giving him a corse fleece for best bike - lol !! Congrats mate ;>)

Small moment on the way back down the (empty) fosse way - gave it a right handful to clear the cobwebs and my ruddy satnav came off the bracket !!! Luckily it wedged in front of the instruments so no harm done.

See you all soon

Nat

keith888 09-Jun-2007 18:14

Another set of thanks to Rob for organising it and for John Hackett for his generous hospitality. I'm not sure if John got a lot of sales out of the day but he certainly got a room full of smiles when he started the 990. If he'd revved it any higher I think those fairings hung from the ceiling would have blown off their hangers!

First thanks to John and the team for the great welcome, hospitality and 'sedici entertainment, and second, for all of you for turning out and making it a great day. It's aways great to meet folks that we chat to via the boards, more so, surrounded by great bikes and in glorious weather.

Should we do it again next year?

Regards,

Rob

Well that for me was a really great day seeing all of those great bikes and getting to meet more real Ducati enthusiasts it really was a pleasure, thanks to all that came especially Rob for his efforts.
It goes without saying you are all always welcome to drop in for a coffee anytime.
Best regards and safe riding JH

AL900SL 09-Jun-2007 20:08

A great day out and my thanks to Rob for organising it and to John for hosting us and making us feel so welcome. I must say I am always made to feel welcome at JHP. To top it all Mrs R had finished laying the slabs on the patio when I got home.
It just don't get better.
Cheers

Jealousy will get you no where Nat:D

Echo Jaspers comment. An excellent day and thanks to John and his team. It was good to put names and faces to people on the site. Thanks to Ian and Lyndsay for the company on the ride up and back - hope you both got home safe.

SUPERB!!!

400 mile round trip via a stop off in Leeds but, it worth every one just to hear the MotoGP bike fire up!

I could of easily stayed there all day - everyone was so friendly and helpful and the hospitality was unmatched by any dealership I've ever been to - I can start to understand why JHP are rated so highly.

Thanks again to John and all his team and Rob for helping organise it in the first place.

I dont see how we can 'top' this for next year ;)

Cheers - Frank

nb - wil post up some vid when I get chance but here is a memorable pic for me:

Can we have more pics please?

Good pics Frank, cheers.

And my 749R (which has seen better days) is in pic 558 (with the Baglux tank cover)!

james8 09-Jun-2007 22:50

Just want to add my thanks to those already posted for a simply superb day.

There was a lot of work for Rob in getting things organised, and John in hosting the sweaty hordes, so cheers guys - top job :)

.. and yes Rob, we should do it again next year..!

p.s. anyone got a vid-with-sound of the 'sedici running they can post ? Just gotta have that soundtrack ..!

philthy 09-Jun-2007 23:13

Missed it

Guys

I really enjoyed last years meet and was looking forward to today, ( It would have been only my second ride this year ) bike prepped taxed, fresh insurance and full tank, wife took day off work to look after kids....and then 3 days of really bad sore throat turned into really bad cold and a head like cotton wool and dizzy spells. Sense told me it was too risky for bike riding so I spent all day feeling very sorry for myself laid out on the settee.

It makes me wonder if someone is trying to tell me something and maybe after 10 years she should go to a better home than I can give her.

Glad you all had a good time and thanks for posting the photo's.

Ride safe

Phil

RightSaidFred 11-Jun-2007 02:11

Wonderful day out gentlemen, thank you all for turning out. Special award goes to our master of ceremonies, RobB, for organising it all with almost military precision. Thanks to Paul and Ian for escorting me up along the smashing Fosse Way, a road i've not been down before but one which I shall now frequent! Nice trundle back in the company of Rob too, hope any more rain didn't get ya mate! I've tried to upload some pics but it won't let me, says my image sizes are too big, whatever that means. If anyone wants to re-size them let me know i'll email them and we can get them up.

:)

Iconic944ss 11-Jun-2007 19:14

Mr.R 11-Jun-2007 19:31

Hi Rob,
I couldn't make the meet as i was still at the 'TT'.
Yes i think you should do this event again, but please try to avoid the Island dates, as i've already booked for next year! AND I'D BE VERY DISSAPOINTED TO MISS YOUR DO AGAIN.

Steve

851neil 12-Jun-2007 21:22

Guilty :)

Story is I wanted a black one, to be different (there's always one eh...), managed to source another set of bodywork to paint, my original mint red panels are residing in the loft! Does suit the bike well, I was so pleased when I bolted them all on.

As I said in my last post, I have some more good pics of the day but can't seem able to post them up, the server is telling me they're too big and need re-sizing. I could email them to you Frank and you could post them?
