When in god's name are we gonna have a proper race calendar?

The holiday planner for next year looks like it's been shot with a blunderbus and I've got no days left.

Cranker V2 15-Dec-2009 09:13

I suspect a fair amount of wheeling and dealing, present giving and back slapping amongst circuit owners, series organisers, race club officials, BSB teams, BTCC officials, BRDC officials etc will take place between next week and first week in the new year. New Era are going to announce new classes etc, eveyone else is being cagey. MSV only have major dates on their calender, leaving room for additional major race weekends (BTCC, BSB, trucks, bicycles, decathalons, and anything else they hire out the tamac for)

It's been interesting and entertaining to say the least on this forum, with people throwing dummies out, being cantankerous (me included) and generally melodramatic about dates etc. I have to book flights back to the Uk, so think how I feel........ So I travel a bit further than some others, north or south by 1 - 2 degrees ;-) rolleyes:

When the the dust settles, the flag will drop............then the real whinging will begin!:D

Note the laughter bit wink wink!

Having been a member of the club for 8 years, been a Regional Organiser for 4 of those years (including organising rideouts, pub nights and other trips), organised 5 very successful trips to the factory, been on numerous jollies with other club members (including bike launches, shop launches, a pen launch (!!), show trips, the MotoGP Winners party, SBK and MotoGP team meets) , raced in DD since the start, written numerous articles for Pronto, organised/designed/created the Club Charity Calendar for 2004 (we sold over 150 calendars and raised over £250 for charity), wrote the shopping cart system for the website, designed the logos that you're looking at on the website right now (at the top) and helped in numerous other ways through the years, I guess you could say that I'm more of a giver than a receiver? ;)

How about you? :frog:

But besides that, what have the Romans ever done for us?!

antonye 15-Dec-2009 10:36

I'm not surprised - but they were lovely trophies though - thank you very much Gordon!

I for one hope that all the pre-season camaraderie doesn't become a "them and us" in the paddock, whenever and wherever the paddock ends up?

Mind you, it wouldn't be racing if it didn't.....

Without breaking into a tyrade of "Wewease woderwick", anyone know if the DD dates have been truly finalised yet and if so, what they are...

I'm trying to diarise what I can get to this year for photo snapping and SWMBO is wanting to put tea&stickies dates in that same diary as I type (i.e. I'm gettting earache for blocking dates out and then saying they may change).

Thanks Guy (aka Plethora Incontinentia Buttocks III)

Club race calendars only ever finalise about now, but you get very little in the way of 'proper' confirmation until the circuits have sent out the contracts to the clubs.
So ... I don't know about you, but I've spotted a bit of disruption in travel and postal services ... so I'm guessing that they may be a little late this year getting the contracts out
However, it is the same old same old every year, and we just have to be patient while the national championships decide they really have made up their minds by signing _their_ contracts with the circuits.

phil_h 09-Jan-2010 16:37

And another thing ...
have you noticed how the dynamic new new era website :frog: has been updated with the amazing new information about a completely new programme of classes and championships to be announced before christmas ... not
If they havnt decided what they're doing yet, we've got no chance of being told anything 'final'.
