No.

The noise is caused by the clearances between the clutch plate tangs and the basket. The more the clutch gets used, the wider the clearances become, the louder the noise gets. Replacing the basket and plates quietens the noise for a while but is always comes back.

Aluminium plates with an aluminium basket and the standard insulated cover is probably the best you'll get.

For trackdays i take the rubber gasket out and use some spacers that Nelly gave me with the standard cover. I'm running alloy plates in the stock steel basket and to be honest its way too noisy for me and my bike is rather loud anyhow cos of the cored cans! I was going to leave it like that for the road but i couldnt stand it so its now back on the standard cover complete with gasket.

I ran spacers on my OEM cover all the time, and with 54mm Sil Motor cans the package was a bit noisy ;)

Now I have Nelly's new one but I haven't run it with it on yet. It doesn't have a fuel tank on it ... or any bodywork ....

This weekend though, with new tyres as well :)

Well I guess its not just me then that finds vented covers to noisy
Tecmoto half vented cover ( silver ) going cheap....:lol:

Right chaps - I am now a little more concerned over the noise issue. I know that a vented/open clutch makes the more mechanical nuts and bolts sound, but is it that much noisier?

I don't mind a little extra noise, I really just wanted it to look better than the OE one.

Ade.

IMHO it doesn't make "too" much more noise although Sue says she can't hear her Hornet(with Scorpion can) running when it is alongside my Multistrada
The other day I stopped alongside some old Ford at the lights and the guy started looking worried. I'm sure he thought that his engine was about to expire:roll:

If you don`t like the vented type then go for a nice D.P C/F one.

Rob I love the vented one I think they look fantastic with the red anodised pressure plate its the noise thats the problem, but I love the sound of the pipes more but then Im old
