As a road bike though, as soon as I can afford a GSXR750 or 100, I will have one, and put my 748 firmly back on the track, where she belongs!

;)

Funny..... you'll be a lot faster on the track with a GSXR 750 or 1000 than with a 748 or a 998, and where you really need to be (or at least should be) fast is on the track not on the road.

Maybe, maybe not. It's not a given.
But I enjoy riding my Duke on the track more than on the road and vice versa, so it makes sense to me.

I've seen little 400's nip past qixer750 / 1000's unless its boring snottyton A rider makes a bike not the other way round.

Ok, if it's just a "pleasure" thing, then it can make sense ;)

Sure, but i didn't said the contrary. :puzzled:

For me it would have to be the Gixer 750 closely followed by the ZX10 - now is my back up to it? Perhaps we'll give one a try!:D

Just read this, Dave. It's a really good write up and other people's comments are pretty enlightening too. Not currently tempted to change bikes but it depends how many people overtake me on track days this year. I would prefer to blame my bike for being too slow than blame my own skill at riding. :D

New Update

more news to add to this...

Got a phone call at 10.00 yesterday .. It was Tart 2 ... He had been home for a whole 20 mins after a 26 plane journey back from New Zealand, and guess what.... He was itching to get out on the Duke... So, needless to say, .... GAME ON !!!!

Since my last post where I was disappointed with my Duke and looking to change for a ZX, I have made a few changes to the Duke. Nothing too major but just some subtle suspension tweaks. Theses changes have made a huge difference.... however, the Michelin H2 Race tyres are still being binned and replaced with Diablo Corsas. Compared with the last time I rode the Duke along the same route I used on Saturday, it felt like a completely different bike and was a lot more rewarding to ride.

The ZX is still a blinding bike and you could say the same about all the 'new' top sports bikes, but my Duke still just has that edge....

So there we have it, the Duke has had a Stay of Execution for the time being and Camp Ducati will have to put up with me for a little longer :P

Camp Ducati? That's no way to talk about Flanks... :frog:
