Tell it how it is mate! |
If I remember correctly, Mike Cecchini had a braced swingarm made in the Uk. Either Metmachex or JMC I think. They did it as a one off. Metmachex list various Ducatis as do JMC but neither lists the 851/888. http://www.mad-ducati.com/images/Mik...i/DSCN2736.jpg http://www.metmachex.co.uk/ https://www.swingarm.com/online_shop.aspx Mike |
But Metmachex, if I remember right, used Rushjob's ST2 to make a pattern for their ST swingarm. Maybe if there was enough interest from the 851/888 peeps? Just looking at it...not taking any measurments you understand...the 888 swingarm is very, very similar to the ST one...just seems to have the yellow hoopy bit, A-frame or whatever you call it fitted to lugs welded on top of the arm. I would've thought that since the ST frame was based on the 888 that Metmachex might be able to adapt something fairly easily. Prices are around the £5-600 mark from memory |
JMC list the Monster which should be the same as an 851/888. In fact the 888 swingarm is shown when I bothered to look! https://www.swingarm.com/gal_ducati.aspx https://www.swingarm.com/images/WHIT...88_BTM_P45.jpg Price breakdown: Swingarm Info: DUCATI MONSTER 1992 - 1994 Arm Price: £340.63 Bracing: £34.05 Polishing: £75.10 Post & Packing: £15.32 VAT: £81.39 Total: £546.49 Or UKP 400 if you don't polish it and live outside the EEC. I think you`ll find thats the one the new chap has just bought. |
Sparkin's right ! I bought it a week or so ago. So sorry, but that one's gone mate. Had a call from Derek at Baines today - the bill so far to bring it up to scratch is about £700 just for parts, plus labour. That includes new tyres (about £180 say), new screen, ohlins rear shock rebuild (by Ohlins), full service, fresh fluids, front and rear pads, a range of nuts/bolts/washers/etc. He's had it running and says it sounds really sweet, and it should be ready for collection a week Saturday (still to be done are braided brake hoses, some sort of oil cooler pipe and another rubber bit somewhere). To say I can't wait is an understatement ! Matthew :sing: :sing: :sing: |
I need to pop down and see John and Geoff, and the boys at Forza,I`ll see if I can make that day. |
Baines, it will be in super safe hands their. They are first class, allways provided A1 service on my bikes. |
Can I sense a gathering:) |
