... ya deaf eegit ;) Even with earplugs a Corsair is painfully noisy. It's designed to offer excellent airflow to the head so has huge vent tunnels which create the noise and turbulence, which is fine for the track but bloody useless on the road. Beautifully made, very comfortable but too noisy for me. Yes I do happen to have sensitive lugholes :P

Arai have saved my noggin on more than one occassion, not cheap but you only get one bonce!

Fit is everything though, luckily for me they fit just fine and as already been said their customer service is second to none

takes 18 hours of hand crafting to make a corsair, the engineering in an arai is second to none !

I seem to remember that MCN did a survey on helmets sometime ago now and if memory serves me correctly they found little difference (in terms of safety) between the cheapest and the most expensive helmets. The advice was to go for the best fit according to your budget.

Personally Ive had quite a range including a cheap Lazer, Nolan, Shark and currently the superb Shoei XR1000, Ive never had an Arai. When I bought the Shoei the salesman did his best to sell me an Arai but it felt awful on where as the Shoei fitted like a glove. So I took the advice and went for fit and am very happy I did so its a great helmet and looks superb too.

Incidentally I binned my bike last year in France whilst wearing my previous Shark lid which took a heck of a blow and did a great job of protecting my head, a helmet I paid less than half for of my new Shoei! :)

Always return to Arai.Trie AGV,Suomy and Shoei but fit is always better(for me) and if you have a ten bob heid(unreliableian)get a ten bob helmet

Genuinely believe that most known make crash helmets are much of a muchness when it comes to protection. RIDE magazine recently found that Shoei had better impact protection to other makes but to be honest no crash helmet will protect you if you head butt a lorry :(

The original question was whether the salesman's advice that 'Arai were better by far' was correct. I sincerely hope that none of us ever have to to put that claim to a serious test.
