Hmm, they work on 900's but I don't think you'll get much gain on a 600. The restriction on airflow volume is the valve size, not the induction system. Ram air has most effect at high speed = high rpm and the 583s struggle to make power above 8500 rpm, regardless of how much fuel/air you chuck at them.
But if I'm wrong, I'll be first in the queue for a custom airbox!

It would be a mistake to assume that the airbox on every bike model is highly optimized for size and intake tract tuning. Airboxes are commonly used to simply reduce intake growl so that the intake-plus-exhaust environmental noise limits can be met. In such cases, cutting openings in the air box with the intention of increase air flow may or may not improve power and throttle response in the rpm midrange that you use on the street or the higher rpm range you use on the track. So you’ll need to do some design development of your own. Only a series of dyno runs will give you the answer.

Dom, if its any help - when we had the 620 in Snotty, she was running 'open' (no lid) Now running 583 again, better with lid on:)

Remeber also, no lid at somewhere like Brands, means: keep away from the gravel!:o - see pics of the Snot in the last pronto:lol:
