Please bear with us in the short term - we are on the job.

Shouldn't that be pish;)

Well finish each other off and get the site working ;)

Just to add my twopennyworth, I am a fully paid up member and have not bitched once about the site being down although I have asked for the reason.

I would not renew my membership if the site was not at least as good as it is now as it is the only benefit I get from my annual subscription. I could easily take a more selfish view and be a forum member without paying.

So if it is necessary to invest in new software or hardware to make the site more stable and the cost was in proportion to the benefit it would get my vote.

Please see above.

And you are suggesting spending more money on a facility that does not benefit the majority of DSC members?

You need to get out more

There is already a budget proposal on spend for the website for 2006.

Hope it's enough for new software

There will be a discussion on the website under AOB.

Do you mean the AGM?

At 17:20 today I did a full server backup, created a new Y2004 archive, moved nearly 35,000 postings into the archive area, reset the system to allow up to 350 connections, and to finish off restarted the database and server systems.

That's why you couldn't get into the system at about the 17:00-17:20 timeframe.

For those that were interrupted, I apologise. I normally try to do the backups and reorganisations early in the morning (before 8am) but tomorrow I have other commitments that meant it was better to sort it late this afternoon before the 'evening rush'

I wouldnt want to be regarded as moaning about this. I guess we all just want to get on when we can, i wouldnt even begin to understand how or why it works or doesnt.....:borg: I know managing the site can be somewhat difficult..........to say the least, well done by the way!

Eamonn and the Webteam

I am not in any way levelling the issues ordinary messageboard users have with the board at you, however, it is clear that the current software is not webteam friendly and I will do all in my power to get funding to improve matters for you and the members of this club.
