Pays ya money Andy!

chillo 05-Jan-2005 01:12

if i remember right my 998r got new belts every 12months or 6k whichever came first, i would just do it for piece of mind.
If you ride it:burn: then its worth it for warranty piece of mind.
If your not bothered about that then fook em!:eureka:

andyb 05-Jan-2005 08:27

Todays task....find out if its belts or not!!!

Monty 05-Jan-2005 10:49

Andy, for the cost of the belts-get them changed. Ducati service intervals are like most motor driven vehicles 6000 miles or 12 months whichever comes first-so doing 2,000 miles a year does not mean you don't need a service for 3 years 'cause you don't do the mileage.............
Take it somewhere you trust-JHP are not that far from you.

999R 6000m/12 month service quoted maximum cost as per Ducati transparent service manual used by all dealers is £395.80 plus VAT
This should be maximum cost and probably might be less as the list includes 4x opening shims@10.90 and 4x closing shims@31.50 which may not be needed depending on mileage and type of use

No belts on this service but it has air filters on there down to be changed @£27.99 each!!
Labour in the manual is 6hrs based at £40 ph so some dealers will be higher some lower for this figure

Ask your dealer to see their transparent service manual to see the schedules and cost breakdowns as they all have one.

Would have thought if you are planning to track day it you will be looking at more frequent servicing anyway as per race schedules i.e. checking valve shimming etc as it will get just as much if not more stick than if you were racing?
If you were racing you probably would have 2x 20 min races in a day but riding virtually all day on a track day -and dont say you wont be pushing it as much on a track day:devil:
So more costs involved there:o
